I loved this movie as a kid, watched it many times and sang Johnny Cash with my dad and mom after they separated. The lyrics for some reason made me deeply interested, especially “Don’t play with guns” line, like it was taboo to even sing about such a thing.

Wrong actor, wrong voice,wrong director, wrong movie, but right name " Johnny Cash". So sad. The movie would be awesome with some other Feature or Name or Johnny cash tribute movie.

Scenario 2... you die believing there is no God .....and you live for eternity in HELL , a place of eternal screaming in anguish and torture in flames beyond human imagination.
You see ..God the Father sent his SON Jesus Christ to die for YOU. But he lets you choose. He will not force any one. SO... if you die not believing you CHOSE HELL. Please for Christ sake choose Jesus Christ . 1 Cor 15;3-4.

This whole scene is AMAZING! Sam Philips dialogue is so powerful and I loved how the guys fell into step with the song✨

This is so much different than the way that Cash himself described it in The Man in Black. There's a lot of the story not told here.

One of my favorite movie scenes. Not just the performances but how that message needs to be sent to all aspiring artists regardless of field. Can you make it as a superficial face? Yes. However, "making it" requires at least these 2 things.

1) Have something truly unique to have a better shot. Don't look, sound, perform like everyone else.

2) A business (e.g., music industry), doesn't care about your real beliefs. It only cares who you can make a believer and sell something.

If you don't have to "sell out" and still sell out shows, you hit the jackpot.

The lasting moment for me in this scene is when Johnny says, "You have anything against the Air Force?" and Sam Phillips says, "No." And Johnny looks down and says..."I do." The change of expression on Dallas Roberts' face was chilling.

When Johnny says “I do” you could see the subtle change in Sam’s expression that said “Oh damn, this guy has something to say.” It was brilliant acting. That’s the moment a star is born. And Sam knew it.

He looks at his guitarist like: "What, are you on vacation or somethin' ?"

Same studio that discovered Elvis Presley, and Roy Orbison.
