If general aviation (flying around for the hell of it) is allowed to survive and move past the senseless pollution it's currently responsible for it has to go electric

This is the future. Constantly improving battery technology plus aviation-grade solar cells covering the wing surfaces.

Really excited about electric aircraft like this and others.

As other comenters are saying re: this aircraft's battery energy density vs existing new tech, the flying time can already be greatly improved.

A general aviation aircraft that could readily handle 2-3hour hops would mean tons of recreational and shorter range commercial flights could become electric.

Thats a lot of flights, to remove leaded aviation fuel burning engines from.

I like how, while they're in flight, they often gaze out the window or the sides but then suddenly stare at each other as if they don't know where to look.

Most are ran off big batteries not the "fuel" you may think.

The electrical hook up is wired into next doors system so the power is free.

Very short range and bio fuel is the better way. 40 mins is low

I have also design an all electric airplane ✈️ that will almost analogical with any Cessna training aircraft having300kw engine duralumin body have highest speed 250 km/h can have altitude 1500meter and can fly 500 km without refuelling. It may have satellite remote sensing technology radar gps navigation system.

Why not make the battery a pack that just unplugs when drained and can be swapped for a charged one?
...5 minutes on the ground....and yer off again!
In the meantime, the previous battery is being charged.

As a student pilot with only a few hours under my belt this aircraft would be a game changer where I live. We have a beautiful lake about 10 miles away and another airport about 15nm away with a tower. I cant hardly afford the fuel cost right now to go fly and get in my hours. This would speed things up a lot and it would also be less intimidating for beginners not having to worry about mixture and oil pressure and all of the noise associated with the exhaust, and the added benefit of not having to breath in leaded gas fumes. However I love vintage planes and eventually I still want a nice piston plane, but if I could afford one of these I would get one just to go fly around that lake!

"0 fuel cost" What is the free source of electricity that you use to charge the plain with? What is the cost of battery replacement? How many years will you get out of a set of batteries? No, it is not "0 fuel cost" It is a very high fuel cost and horribly short range that will get progressively shorter as batteries deteriorate. I wish people would be honest regardless of what narrative they are pushing.

I can see the attractions of electric a/c but for now at least surely it's best to train in ICE aircraft where you learn about engine management, magnetos, icing, carb heat, rapid cooling, etc. These are all things you're going to encounter in the current GA world. So once you've got a PPL then yes I can see that's going to be fun, reducing work load, quiet, modern, sexy etc. but to train, no, not yet. Great vdeo though. I defo want one!

Electricity is free? Batteries don’t perform well in extreme cold. How is the range in the north during the winter and you get up to altitude where it’s colder?

It will only get better, with advances in battery’s and BMS’ controlling how the power is used.

theres camera drones that can last more time.... i understand they want to keep low cost but they need at least 2hour of range..... as always we really need better bateries.... the eletric engines are already amazing but the bateries is the problem. we we need a super capacitator something better than bateries.

looks a lot like the flight design ctls that i fly. only difference is is have 7 hours at 115kts 😭 hopefully we see some battery improvement soon

With better batteries this is can be enteresting. Right now best soluton if don't need to fly far and for excursions over the city .Of coures if you can recharge it in your airport.

How much did it cost to charge your batteries?

Well, I don't see any solar panels on it so I guess it's plugged into a power grid for charging. Meaning that there is a fuel cost as most energy is still created from fossil fuels. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for electric cars, plane, etc.. just don't mislead saying there is $0 fuel costs.

NO fuel costs huh, is it charged using solar? If so it has a fuel cost. Is it electric, if so it has a fuel cost. Electricity is it's fuel and it's not free.

What happens when you are flying in the winter? My electric car uses an extra 25% in the winter without using the heater. With using the heater, my car uses 40 to 50% more power depending on how cold it is outside. I do like the concept. Hopefully, they can figure out a better battery pack.

It still cost money to charge so its not zero cost. And its not real efficient like a petrol aircraft that gets lighter with fuel burn it stays the same weight and as the batteries discharge it gets less and less effective. Weight is a huge enemy of aircraft and until batteries get much better they are not a viable option to go anywhere. The concept is good though just not there yet in tech.

My Tesla battery weighs as much as that total plane. It's a very nice ultralight in the USA under 103 rules. It's like having a Rotax with 5 gallons of fuel. Maybe someone wants a super cool ultra-lite. Not me
Then a 30% reserve. It needs an iron phosphate battery to gain that advantage.
