I stopped updating way back, untrustworthy. I think if you had stopped recording you would have regained control, the video link eats bandwidth.

Scary times Gav. So would pushing the rth button or pause button not cancel this as they are the 2 fail safe option along with complete loss of signal. Thanks for sharing your moment with us all. Keep calm and carry on 😂

I am currently sat in my new campervan in the North Of Scotland. My phone pinged this afternoon with an email from DJI announcing the launch of the Air3S. I went straight on to their Website and selected the 'trade in' option in the buying menu. For my Air 3 which has absolute zero damage and my RC2 controller they offered me the grand total of £344.00 really? Yes really. I do want the Air3S and am half tempted to jump into the Ebay swamp to sell my old one. The thing is though I think that I might swerve it and stay with my my Air3. Tough call though

can i ask a side question, right now, would you buy a m4p or air3s, pound for pound excuse the puns? I want better light performance at night so I can geg in on the night scene more, in the city centre but being careful right on the mersey, im sure i can get to 50m away from people there, sorry for no caps i'm typing one handed over a messed up desk

what would happen if you had set the max distance on the drone /controller settings away from the controller . Would it have been stopped for example at 800m

Lol, I recently said that DJI can mess the app up in the blink of an eye. I remember when they messed up the compass

You had signal interference which probably didnt help

Lucky you got it back, to be fair turning off the controller should have been next step if trying to reduce signal strength as you did didn't work to invoke RTH. Watching the signal strength is also very important so a lesson learnt I think for you there given where you are flying later on you probably didn't have direct line of sight from controller to the drone either which wouldn't have helped... not the usual place I would have thought people would fly when using the drone so not really a test reflective of "real use".

I know you probably won’t want to recreate that scenario to test it but what if you just forced an RTH with the controller? Do you tink the sketchy signal would’ve stopped that from working too?
Surely, though, once the drone decided its battery was too low it would abandon any active track operation and bring itself home?

Does your video mean RTH is no longer available with the new update? Or was that not working too?

Didnt the pause button on the controller work?

Is this a bug due to changes in the tracking system? Because it looks like the only chamge is moving the toggle switch from in the menu to on screen. Maybe active track on a vehicle behaved this way before in spotty signal areas?

Did you try the pause button on your controller? The pause button is there to stop any automated actions.

Also. Have you tried stopping the active track whilst having a guaramteed good signal, is it the new instigation of active track the issue?

Great vid and information. Shut off controller sounds like a fast way to get it to initiate RTH but staying calm under pressure is definitely the key in this situation.

You received a "aircraft signal interference" warning seconds after it started tracking, and your signal went to red very quickly after that. That quick loss of signal is very strange. Glad you got her back.

I would’ve just turned the controller off to make it returned to home with loss of connection

That appears to be a software bug and not a function of signal integrity.

100% pilot error. I'll just say that to be different as I imagine it's very unlikely anyone else would be daft enough to say that. 🙂 Love your content dude.

Low signal was my first thought. Immediately turn off the controller and drone should return on signal loss?

With version 14.0 I almost lost my drone. App started crashing, loop restarts, dron was not reacting while in flight. I had to clear all app data from my phone, log in the app again... Meanwhile my dron was landing somewhere for no reason. Quality control and testing of DJI is getting worse.

As a firm believer in the wisdom of not attempting to fix anything that isn't obviously broken, I view all DJI firmware "upgrades" with a mixture of indifference and suspicion. Unless avoidance of a recommended upgrade grounds the drone and prevents it from taking off, I have never bothered with any upgrades for years, and have no adverse consequences to report thus far.

Did you press the icon on the screen to see if that would cancel it as that's what you pressed to start it 😊

What about pressing the active track again on the left side of the screen. Maybe it toggles the option

Recently flying for the third time in an area suddenly the signal turned from 3 bars to 0. What the h...? Luckily RTH kicked in and soon the link was restired. My first idea was that someone (police) used weapons....
You bet it was some thrilling seconds.

Glad the RTH kicked in ok. I presume it would also have kicked in once the battery level was low?

You should have just turned off the controller completely and it would have triggered RTH. It wasn't responding to your commands because of signal interference, but it was still connected to the controller by a hair. Turn off the controller, and it would stop whatever it was doing and go RTH.

I just updated my DJI mavic 3 and now it says no SD card so I put 2 different SD cards in still won’t read card! But all the cards work on my DJI mini 3 pro 😢 anyone have an ideas
