One thing i want to add
Is the mental fatigue you get from owning a new car
it gets scratched
It gets a small new dent every month or two
With the beater you don’t care
As long as it’s starts that’s that matters
But
I I’ll add one more point
People treat you differently when you have a nice car
I’ve been through it
I’d suggest getting two cars
One for the looks
And one for your daily commute
If you have the money off course

An added benefit is that it's a manual! Those are more fun to drive.

Bought a new Honda Civic Del Sol in 1993 and still drive it daily. Enough said!

I am in Canada; bought a 2009 Honda CRV new and am still driving it. Over 300km so far and no sign of problems.
No silly high tech stuff that you don't need and therefore don't have to service/repair. I can back up with no camera, just fine!
😃

great video… love it. i am here because I am considering one used yet reliable car like this for a daily drive.

this is great but what is your advice for those who are not mechanicaly inclined?

those who have less knowledge in cars?

I drive a 1998 Lexus GS 400 with 249k miles. It's a Florida car with no rust or leaks and still ride better than new cars.

Not having to worry about a monthly car payment is worth more than anything. I would kill to have a beater like that. Mines an 05 Jetta and transmissions starting failing, it’s got quite a few dents, A/C cools but struggles, but it still gets me from point A to point B. Hope I find a nice one like this once mine gives out. NGL I’ll be heartbroken cause it’s my first car and I’ve had it for over 10 years now.

For many people, having high end cars is a hobby. Much more than just a means of getting from A to B. We want a certain level of engagement/driving dynamic that many older cars can't deliver. Buying a used car will almost always be a better financial decision though. An important distinction though, is that simply because something is not the smartest financial decision you could make does not mean it is a purchase that you would regret making, or that it is something that isn't in your budget. Not the smartest financial decision does not always equal not worth buying. In many cases, the thrill factor and engagement many cars these days offer is priceless. Nothing wrong with buying a cheap/older car though. Just depends on what you get enjoyment out of in life.

It's better to buy a used car, but in good shape mechanical speaking, than spending money for new cars which btw are just walking piles of plastic.
If I would buy a new car, the only brand I would choose is Toyota, and it would be a hybrid, and thats it.

I bought my house in 2019, when my only vehicle was a 1997 Toyota 4Runner. I was 27 then. I regret buying my truck, I have a 2021 Ram 1500 4x4 now...I paid it off in about 6 months, but I still regret paying that much freaking money for a vehicle...
