40 DEGREES!!! MONACHIL SWING FESTIVAL VLOG - Sondre & Tanya

When we received an invitation to take part in the Lindy hop event in Spain, we agreed immediately not even thinking that we might be a bit tired after the whole week in Herräng (Sweden) and just one week before our own Boogie Feet´s Festival (BFF).

It was our first time ever teaching in Spain.
As we said, right before this one, we spent the whole week in Sweden, where the temperature change during the day went from +25-30 in the day time to +10-15 in the nights. Everyone, who were in Herräng knows about the so-called "Herräng Flu" - too much fun and social contacts during the entire week (and for some people, during the entire 3-5 weeks - the duration of the whole camp) combined with the temperature shifts leads to the weakened immunities and many cases of illnesses, such as flu or cold. We were a bit concerned that after an intense summer and the whole week in Herräng coming to the hottest place in Spain (Granada) might simply kill us right before the BFF.

We were surprised to stay very fit after the Herrang and not to feel anything in Monachil! Probably pandemics made people more conscience about the hygienic procedures and restraining from contacts in case of even slightest symptoms! Many people in Herrang were wearing masks or keeping distance at the parties, just mainly watching. Also in general there were less people this year. All in all we haven´t heard of anyone falling really ill after the camp. This made our whole Monachil dance festival smooth and pleasant as well.

The weather was extreme - around 40 C
We had some talks with a few participants from Spain, who said that media warms that this might be the coldest Summer in their lives from now on. We hope it isn´t true though.

Each evening there were different groups and bands playing. We were partying and dancing with the participants and each other. The variety of music was amazing! Everything from Swing and Jazz to the Rock´n´Roll was pleasing our ears and keeping the energy on a good level. It was never monotonous!

The teacher´s crowd felt warm and welcoming. Some of the guys we knew from before and some we met just now. All of us hang out together as good friends! Sondre tried sangria for the first time ;)
