Here's a better method:
In the "Find and Replace" pane, after finding all occurrences of "Tom"
instead of selecting the first instance, holding the SHIFT key, and scrolling all the way down till we find the last instance...
a better method is to press: CTRL+A (to select all the instances of "Tom" that were found).

THANKS BROTHER SAVED ME LOTS OF TIME. However still trying to figure out how i can exclude the rows with dates in them using the criteria of blanks. if i had a column with names and dates in it and the next column with results and blanks. obviously the dates have no results that means the cell in the next column is blank. using the criteria for blanks when deleting entire rows it deletes the ones with dates too
