“Which wood glue is the best”….then you refuse to commit yourself to saying which is your best 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьIm a sundeck builder. Do you have a recommendation for gluing Trex decking and similar materials. We haven't tried expoxy because it hasn't been a big deal breaker if you get a gap in a miter on a deck outside. That being said I would like to find a glue for making and keeping tight joints. We also use the standard PVC trim boards. Thay can generally be glued with a vinyl adhesive or standard PVC glue. The real winner would be to find a glue for different brand of decking. Problem here is theya ll mak it slightly different

ОтветитьThat was a LOT of very practical information. Thanks✅👍🏻
ОтветитьGood video 👍👏
ОтветитьNo time wasted. Straight up information.
ОтветитьIPA removes polyurethane glue
ОтветитьSuperglue activator is water. That is why it does not work on wet surfaces. To slightly damp surfaces it sticks immediately but is not as strong as being hardened slowly by moisture in the wood or air.
ОтветитьThank you. Very informative and candid review of available glues for DIY and woodwork/ My dad had a cast iron bain-marie back in the day when I was a kid. ( I still have it somewhere)To Mother's chagrin he would put it on the gas in the kitchen to heat up his 'bead 'glue' and fill the kitchen with its awful stink. If I am correct this was the hide glue obtained from animal hides/bones. It was sold by the pound as little yellow beads at good ironmongers.
ОтветитьInstead of hide glue, use fish glue. Same good effect except u don't need all the heat up faff
ОтветитьHow to product it
ОтветитьThanks for the info …. I’ve been using cheap pva ie 5 liters for £ 12 but now I’m not so sure … ?
ОтветитьWould you recommend using PVA Glue in fixing the guitar bridge than other wood Glue? was the bridge holding well?
Ответитьhello,
can you use wood glue on mdf?
You've obviously never heard of Cascamite.
ОтветитьWet PU glue wipes off with isopropyl alcohol and what happened to cascamite?
ОтветитьI still use white Elmers.
ОтветитьExcellent run down and explanation 👍
Ответитьthanks
ОтветитьHi
Let say I wish to glue wall hooks outdoor to hang house lights.
Should I use Polyurethane Glue?
Tough agaisnt weather cycles such as rain and sun.
Great
ОтветитьI use a lot for polyurethane glue and the way to clean for me is paint thinner
ОтветитьThis is really informative, thank you. I am new to DIY and have a question for you. I want to attach thin strips of oak to my walls to give a barn conversion effect, but I don't know which glue to use and, more importantly, how to keep them in place while they dry (I can't stand holding them all each time, ha!). Also, will it matter if the surface is an old / hard wallpaper, old paint, new paint or plaster? Do you have any recommendations and suggestions? Thanks 🙂 PS - I originally thought of using rawlplugs, but I think glue is probably a better idea
ОтветитьGorilla glue is rubbish
ОтветитьPVA glue is my most beloved glue very good for laying laminate flooring and assembling flatpack furniture.
ОтветитьThank you for the video ❤️
ОтветитьHey hey ... hope your week is goin just right! cool to just discover your channel and be subbed. Stellar job on these vids

ОтветитьWith super glue, the activator is not only for speed, but strength too. The faster super glue cures the harder it ends up. I used to know a guy in the military that worked on attack helicopters, and he used to use super glue mixed with bicarbonate of soda to fill holes and dents that weren't too deep. It makes the glue go off almost immediately and in doing so it goes solid as a rock. Activator does a similar thing. So it isn't just speed, but the speed makes it stronger.
Ответитьis there any non-toxic, durable, and water resistant that is plant-friendly (i’m looking for glues that is safe for orchids as i’m pitching to make orchid mounts from charcoals and wood chips)
ОтветитьHi, Ive got to do a staircase soon, what type of glue would you recommend? I’ve seen some guys use that stuff that foams up (pu, I think) and others pva. Cheers bro
Ответить5 years for my old glue box... Added some water a while ago but it still works :)
ОтветитьI buy West System epoxy in 4 litre can and appropriately sized hardener with pumps that allow for simple and accurate mixing. Epoxy will to harden over time, but few understand that like liquid honey, all you have to do is put it in a hot water bath and it will re-liquify and can be used as usual with no harm to strength.
ОтветитьI had a bottle of Gorilla polyurethane I had not opened. One year later it had gone totally solid. Waste of money for occasional use.
ОтветитьThanks for your discussion
ОтветитьVaseline on hands before using glue makes most glues easy to clean from your hands
ОтветитьCall me a purist, but I still love hot hide glue. Although if I’m going to use PVA, I like titebond 3 and Elmer’s carpenters wood max.
ОтветитьA waterproof wood glue that was very popular in boat building a few years ago and I believe is still very good for exterior applications is Cascamite. Have you given that a go Keith and if so how do you rate it?
ОтветитьMr. Skanky hands!! 🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьNicely done. TY.
Ответитьthanks Keith, good informative vid 👊🙏 i use gorilla glue wood PVA does indoor & outdoor, but only as I got a deal on it recently working out to be a bit cheaper than titebond equivalent, though most places it actually works out to be more expensive
ОтветитьThanks Keith, useful info as always.
ОтветитьI got poly glue in my hair and down my neck once. Oh the fun.😂
My go to glues are always titebond 2 and 3.
I always use waterproof pva for interior uses, polyurethane for exterior, superglue & activator for interior mitres before i fire a pin in just to temp hold. And like you, hot glue for temporary holds on things like router pattern templates etc. With the hot glue, you can spray a bit of isopropyl alcohol on after its cured, to remove it. It just peels straight off after a quick spritz of ipa 😎
ОтветитьI found Everbuild 502 PVA Wood Glue to be quite good. Thick, dries quite quickly and strong. 👍
ОтветитьThe white and yellow PVA isn't a reliable way to divide glue types and not all yellow pva glues are the same as are white glues. Much better to go off of the ratings of D1, D2, D3 and D4. Most of the time people will be using D3 and D4 in construction and building
ОтветитьGreat vid !
One day ... give polyurethane construction adhesive a go, especially in cold and/or exterior conditions.
