I do have a question regarding what happens with 096 if something were to happen to 096-1.

If 096-1 were to be fatally injured and were to die by let’s say an accident before 096 could reach them, what would 096 do? Would they still approach the corpse of 096-1? Would they stop running and enter a passive state since the person that saw it’s face died?

Now let’s say someone was directly responsible for killing 096-1. Would that person now become the target for 096?

This is one of the better SCPs. The way it’s kind of comprehensible that it’s freaking out upon being seen as if it’s monstrously ashamed of its own horrific appearance.

But not just that, the most important thing is that makes some trivial thing we do scary, imagining that we may accidentally catch a glimpse of it if we aren’t careful with what we look at, even if it’s just some indiscernable pixels in a photo. Were it real, this fear would br debilitating unless you’re just blind.

Same with like 173, where the act of just blinking or turning around and it just appears in front of you and with every inevitable momentary blink it inches further towards you.

A few criticisms I have:
1: They didn't start shooting at 096 because it started crying. Quoting the actual document, "[They] started firing when it picked up Corporal ██ and ripped off his leg. "

2: You said that Dr. Dan showed the tattoo artist non-facial pictures of 096 to confirm that it was only aggravated upon viewing its face. I think the reason the convict was shown multiple pictures was because they didn't know which one was a picture of its face.

3: I don't think the thing with Dr. Dan releasing the creature into the public is canon, is it? It doesn't appear in the wiki document.

Why no just chuck it out into space? I mean. It can’t teleport as far as we know. It should keep going forever.

Well the picture should not work because you cant see his face in it technically. You can just see a shade that could have been any thing
