Hello, for a 3-day mountain trail. What considerations should I take in buying shoes?
ОтветитьHey there,
I'm an army veteran and I'm currently looking to re-enlist. I need a pair of shoes that I can run trails with but also occasionally on paved roads which will be solely used as my rucking shoes, that means I need support to carry loads of up to 40kg whilst running. Which shoes could you recommend? Thanks in advance for any help:)
Brooks is killing it
ОтветитьBrooks Catamount 2 for me
ОтветитьNo Adidas Gazelle? List invalid.
ОтветитьI wish Hoka paid more attention to the appearance. They look so ugly compared to other shoes.
ОтветитьLove this
ОтветитьMid list. Nike deserves more credit

ОтветитьHello!
Which shoe is best as I'm going to run for 90km and it's uphill wet terrain and wet bogs lots of rocks and branches. You end up in water completely with your shoes on and which shoe is best to be dry?? I recently ran with the Sacouny Everrun terrain shoe and got my feet completely wet. Apparently, the others had changes with them and I suffered a cramp and had to cancel my race. So you wonder which of these shoes won't get wet and which shoe can handle the whole 92km without having to change. It is extremely tough environment 92km swamps rivers gravel stone mountains sand mud asphalt branches this race has all difficulties in tough environment. Got a cramp when it was so cold in the morning. So I have to think about running 92km now and then wondering which shoe is completely waterproof so you can end up in a puddle several times or you want to say the shoes completely under water without getting wet and able to run 92km at best? Which shoes are recommended by you??? :) I know I have to dress better to protect the muscles as well but it can be an advantage to be dry if the feet can be a good start too :) So grateful for your help:) MVH/// Herbert Thiele try to finish Ultra running 92km :)
The Altra Lone Peaks are not too roomy unless you have a narrow foot like a friend of mine has. He has the narrowest foot I have ever see and swears by NB but I have a wide high volume and the Lone Peaks are great but why not mention Topo Athletic. I somethimes think I have less foot fatigue wearing Topo Terraventure on long distance hikes (300+ miles). To me the Topo feel just like the Lone Peaks so that if I close my eyes and had one of each on my feet I would be hard pressed to know which was which. But I have to wear a half size larger with the Topo . . .
ОтветитьSpeedland for ze win
Ответитьwow! I don't run but I hike and I have bad right knee , I need lots of cushion, which one of these should work for me?
ОтветитьI ve recently run a 50 km trail race in Brooks Cascadia and my legs were battered afterwards..i ve done this exact race in Hoka Speedgoats 4 previously 2 times and also 2x 100 km races and it was not that bad..so for this years 100km race i wont go with Cascadias..too stiff sole imho compared to Hokas
ОтветитьYour view on Saucony peregrine 13 gtx?
ОтветитьBonjour j’ai une question , c’est quoi la meilleure ?
- XODUS ULTA ?
ou
- la HOKA SPEEDGOAT 5 ?
ou
- la NIKE PEGASUS Trail.2 ?
Merci de vos réponses ❤☺️
Those Hoka shoes look so fucking stupid
ОтветитьWhat is a good store in Charlotte Nc to go in and try on a variety of trail shoes?
ОтветитьI’ve only multiple pairs of BROOKS & SAUCONY and they’re my to go shoe for any terrain. I’m interested in the AlTRA but they don’t seem cushioned. Are they Cushioned?
ОтветитьI wear size 51 eu and struggle to find any options in my size. Does anyone have any recommendations?
ОтветитьWhy are there no known brand in this video ?
ОтветитьI'm completely disappointed with Hoka Speedgoat5. Shoe inserts were continuously moving and squeezed out on heel side while running. I needed to buy new ones as Hoka didn't recognise this as faulty. Disappointed.
ОтветитьI am running about 200-trail miles a month and lots of elevation gain on rocky terrain, I don't agree with any of the picks here today.
ОтветитьHi, thank you for sharing this interesting video. I have no experience with this and I hope you can give me some advice. I'm not young and I weigh 84Kg. I should buy a pair of shoes that do a little for everything. These are the elements that particularly interest me: low for tropical climates (hot climates), above all light and comfortable. I go on gravel, clay, grass, mud, slippery pebbles. Am I asking too much? I DO NOT run in it with shoes. But then again, I have no experience with this. My budget is around max 150 euros. Can you tell me some exact model of any brand please? Thanks for some advice.
ОтветитьMan these A.I videos are trash
ОтветитьThe best trail running shoe is the one that suits you.
ОтветитьAll good recommendations, but you left out a fan favorite for max cushion available in WIDE...the New Balance "Fresh Foam X More Trail V2 (and now the new for 2023 V3 version). SPECTACULAR shoe, which I tested back to back with the Hoka and the Altra. The NB gets my time on the trails in Bend, Oregon.
ОтветитьI loved my Asics Fuji Lyte. Awaiting my Gel Trabuco 10 in the mail, read nothing but raves for this shoe and they're at knockdown prices right now because 11 launched. I had the speedgoat 5 for some 100km and gave it to my son because he outgrew his shoes. Tbh Vibram Megagrip is overrated as it doesn't perform as well on wet slope terrains as other brands like Asicsgrip (phenomenal no slip at all, very grippy) and G-Grip (no nonsense lugs) outsole materials.
ОтветитьUnfortunately most of these (Brooks are made in Vietnam) are made in China and if you buy them you are contributing to The CCP's China GDP. Meanwhile they are committing genocide, Organ harvesting on an industrial scale and many other crimes against humanity including their own citizens
ОтветитьForget all these, just get NNormal's kjerag shoe- it's so good! I haven't tried the Tomir yet but will probably order it to replace my training shoe which is a Saucony Xodus
ОтветитьAltra’s lack the support in primarily their uppers, but also their soles to ever be considered a top trail shoe. As Bipeds, our proprioceptors are primarily in our heals and for this reason, it is important to have good heal/heal counter support which I have yet to see any Altra’s provide.
ОтветитьI love the Brooks Cascadia 16 for my wide feet. But they’ve just worn a hole after 425 km on the inner side in the flex point in the space in the overlay. ☹️
ОтветитьHoka SG 5 - worst shoes I have ever worn, low heel support, almost sprained ankle, narrow toe box (really don't know for who they made this shoe, never have issues in any other), mesh holds water, worse grip in mud even it's vibram megagrip, slipping all the time, outsole structure doesn't seem to be working well, cushioning is comfortable but less feel of terain
Salomon Speedcross 5 - unbeatable in mud, fits well on foot/heel but run into foot pain after 400k running in these, maybe I will try different model or wide version
Altra Lone Peak 5 - medium cushioning but comfortable, great toe box, reasonable price if you find a good site, no foot or knee stress after long run, just have to get used to weat 0 drop at the beginning, maybe durability is worse but improved at least in 6 model as I followed couple thru-hikers
Inov 8 do the best trail shoes and you haven't even listed them.
ОтветитьNo Salomons? Really??
