I think if you use a software package called Advanced System Care you can still get security updates for Windows Defender by scanning for secutity holes and vulnerabilities. it has got its own updater that works anyway. I think so anyway but I may be wrong. If not your going to have to install another anti virus program. Also I heard that Win 10 enterprise was going to be getting updates until 2032.

Most of my computers, except for one, don't support 11, but I'm not too worried. About 3 months ago, I was given 2 older laptops running Windows 8 that I promptly installed Different distros of Linux on, so I could teach myself the ins and outs of it with nothing to lose, and while I still have a lot to learn about using them at the command line level, the GUI is pretty simple for anyone who has used any modern Windows PC, or MAC OS.

Just get over it and switch to 11 when the support ends. There is very little difference in between 10 and 11.

I used Win XP for more than 10 years after MS dropped support. Everyeone said that I will get a virus and crash etc, not even close, the big players such as Facebook, Google, etc actually checked for the OS, and if you were running Win XP, you would get a message that said, "unsupported operating system," it would stop running that software. I suspect that the new Windows supported some kind of spyware etc, and those folks can not implement it unless running on somewhat current Windows.

I remember I was so hyped up when about 8~9 years ago I heard of how windows 10 would be the last version of windows. When it's launched, I started to buy it for many of my older computers. I even promoted it to my friends and explained to them why they should buy windows 10.
Now aside of I have to say sorry to them that have unsupported device for windows 11, I promise I will help them to crack their windows 11 installation on their unsupported devices.

I’ve been using Ubuntu Linux for several years. It looks nothing like Windows; it’s much simpler, but works as well. It’s backed by a generous trust fund set up to ensure its future. Most Linux variants have lower hardware requirements than Windows, so you won’t have to run out and buy a new computer when Microsoft shoots itself in the foot. Along with any Linux come free open source software (FOSS) that replaces most of the Microsoft and Adobe products, and will save files to the formats of the commercial applications, so you can work with those who haven’t seen the light. There are several very good Web sites about FOSS, to help you make the break.

Ask Microsoft how much would it cost to provide security patch's only - not any feature updates (not that matters anyway with hackers) for Windows 10. Then add that cost into operating system pricing.

I tried to put Zorin 16 on my laptop, but it failed. I put the distro on a USB using Balina Etcher and then booted from that. The Ventoy USB I used overwrote my Win 10 but would not put Zorin on the pc, so I used the Zorin off of the USB for a while. Eventually I put Win 10 back on and all is well now but who knows about the future?

Been a Linux user for the last three years and made the switch when Microsoft started to put ads into File Explorer. A few of the best tips to have a great Linux experience are to get an AMD graphics card. I have a 6900XT and it only required the installation of one package and I haven't had to deal w/ drivers for over a year. All of my games work either w/ Wine or Proton and it's only been getting better because of the Steam Deck.

For new users, don't go with any fancy distributions, instead go with the two largest support bases for 90% of the Linux ecosystem; Debian or Arch. 90% of the Linux ecosystem is the same as they're all running on either of these two, just with most of the choices made for you. Functionally, they're all the same.

Linux should make a os that support any device and same functionality of windows and all apps compatible. Even paid version people will buy it as long it will support until the machine dies.

Better have a good virus scanner, spam blocker firewall and use the OS which works with your owned software/games and system. The moment I stop gaming, I stop using Windows and shift to Linux/Suse/Ubuntu/Mandrake or whatever, anything except Windows.
