ADD USB STORAGE TO 4K FIRESTICK | INSTALL MORE APPS!! | FIRE OS 6

Hello, I am trying to install storage to a new firestick 4k, 3rd generation. I am trying a 512gb pny flash drive, have it connected to otg cable. When using remote ADB shell, when trying to partition disk mixed 50, I keep getting a error. This is what appears: Error: java.lang.illegal state exception: java.util.concurrent. timeout exception:thread binder: 639_d gave up waiting for partition mixed after 180000ms. If you could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated, any recommendations for me. Thanks and have a good night!

I'm adding this external storage on a fire stick up for my in-laws. I'm downloading all the apps they use and what not. I'm wondering if they will have any issues with the external storage since it has my IP address.

Hi :) when i use the sm list-disk command the name of my USB doesnt show up. There are alot of lines that show up like sm has - adoptable, sm get-primary-storge-uuid. So i cant get past that stage. Any ideas?

Tanya, should a 32 GB 3.0 SanDisk ultra take longer then 15 minutes to partition? Or am I really running into a problem?

Hi Tanya, As usual great tutorial. Is it possible to follow the same steps with a 4K Max. Bottom line I would like to have external memory for apps and for files. If I follow the Max option I can not split. Any suggestions?

I think my TV might be too old I don't know if that port USB port could charge that phone but I bought the adapters today from Amazon and I had the splitter things for a couple months down but I bought those a four pack of those thumb drives or whatever that they're cheap but they're 64 gigabytes I know I have to format them to fat three or whatever you call it reformat those thumb drives I don't have a computer to do it I reformatted one in my Google tablet though and the other one I had a fire stick I have the Google Chromecast TV one and firestick

Hi Tanya, great video, i wish i saw that yesterday when i installed my usb stick and lost so many hours with trials and errors with a too succinct written tutorial.
I still have an issue, and i'm afraid i can't do anything about it. Except X-Plore, the apps can't write to the external storage, which prevents kodi from launching now (it hangs at waiting for external storage), and prevents me to transfer the app data from another huge app. Is there a way to allow the write permissions to the external storage ?

The 1st time I got this:
Error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException: Thread Binder:618_E gave up waiting for partition Mixed after 180000ms

2nd time I ran; I didn't see an error msg but still don't have the last two lines of the ds -h command...

3rd time I tried again I got this error message:
Error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: command '35 volume partition disk:8,0 mixed 50' failed with 'null'

Can anyone provide insight or should I just return my generic OTG cables to Amazon and give up? Thank you!!

Hi Tanya Thanks for the tutorial. Everything worked as shown except when doing the disk partition the San disk 64 Gb USB 3.0 flash drive did not disconnect and reconnect the external drive. It did very quickly go to mantis:/ $. After putting in df-h I get "/system/bin/sh: df-h: not found 127" Everything to this point was as shown in your video. Please help

I’ve watched a few of your videos and am able to get the 1TB ext. memory to partition. Yes it’s FAT32, I’ll get an app to load to memory, I know because it has that USB icon next to it. Firestick will randomly reset and I lose the app and memory. Version 6. Any suggestions?

i have one problem with this.. if you unplug the power to plug in the OTG cable , how then will the firestick work with NO power??

I have a Fire TV Stick 4K. I followed your instructions twice. With two different USB storage devices. The Fire stick boots up and stays active for the time to paint the home screen then shuts down. What advice do you have regarding this issue?

The instructions to dl the APP did not work as described, as the URL changed. After finding the app on the page using a search, I ran it, but the USB was not partitioned, and now is not detected. please advise

My firestick has os 6 versions id like to add more storage and i was following the steps but on downloader it shows totally different on your video it automatically downloads on mine it doesn't do that maybe because the your video is older and the app changed 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ is their a different link i can use maybe its changed over the years . Hi, when I get to the SM partition part of the installation I get a message to say the USB was unexpectadely removed. I have re booted and even factory reset the firestick but I sstill get the same message. Can anyone help me.

I recently acquired a OTG cable with a usb 64gb flash drive to increase my internal storage on my firestick but when I’ve attached it all together and plugged it all in I can seem to find the usb on the firestick and my storage is still low. Is there anything I’ve done wrong

So far I’ve tried 1tb with its own power supply , 500gb hdd passport , a 2tb passport 3.0 and a Kingston 128gb stick ..
Nothing doesn’t pick anything up I’ve tried es explorer to see if that picks it up . Again nothing I thought may be the otg cable but it shows the passport has power . I’m stumped to be honest . It’s a firestick 4K with latest update of 6. Something. I don’t want to erase it all incase they doesn’t work . Stumped and annoyed all are fat32

Any advice on chrome cast google 4k? Can we use adb shell as well? I have been using firetvsticks forever but I was told chromecast Google 4k are more high end and can handle 3rd party apps better...what's your input on this? Thank you
