This is a guess, (I'm commenting this thing in every single video related to MWIII's campaign, LOL):

We all saw Price lying down in the trailer. But we that's not the first time we saw something like that! We saw a very similar thing in the short fil Operation Kingfish. So, maybe, Price and team might have gone to capture Makarov but they couldn't find him. And instead, just as shown in the movie, Price got shot and failed to get into the exfil helo. And then, Makarov captivates Price. After that, they are given a mission of prying Price loose.
