2023 Mazda CX-5 vs CX-30 vs CX-50 Comparison / Family Time

I have owned 4 Mazdas. Currently own a 2021 Mazda CX-30. And I will never buy a Mazda again unless this is fixed. Mazda uses cheap materials. The interior panels scratch way too easily. Gas tank is too small. It’s 2023 and my cuz-30 can’t even do 300 miles on one tank. That is pathetic. But how sensitive these materials are to scratches is the worst. Mazda is fking cheap. These cars are cheap for a reason

Finally someone has noted the shoulder pinching nature of a lot of Mazda seats.

I do find them having multiple vehicles in the same price / segment interesting, but then i heard they were planning on ending the cx-5 soon which is unfortunate to hear :/

what if you dont get the turbo CX30?? Is it still good?

The CX-5 is what I went with. I have yet to hit my head getting in or out of the drivers seat, something I could not say for the CX-30 or CX-50. I have never understood the 0-60 obsession, and went with the standard naturally aspirated engine which will last longer than a turbo one. Thank you though for the comparisons.

They are just cannibalizing their own sales with these in between categories. 🤦‍♂️

Confusing review. Here, in Europe, where parking space is limited, we choose the CX 30. In America you love big, so you choose CX 50. For the same reason you can't find here these huge tracks that are so common in America. Also in Europe both CX 30 and CX 5 have a 2.0 lt motor

Your description of the looks is spot on! I love the way the 50 looks. It’s my favorite! But the 5, sometimes I think it’s a Lexus passing me. And the poor “trying” 30😂😂😂. I’ll probably get the 30. I love my 2017 3 hatchback. But the current 3 isn’t big enough. So the struggling 30 is probably what I’ll get. 😅

This is a really good review of 3 very similar vehicles. Very enjoyable oddly. of the content, I just don't like the upright seating position in the CX-5

I’m a Mazda loyalist but nearly $37k before any taxes for a non Turbo CX-5. Gtfoh Mazda. With outdated 6 speed auto as well. Unless you need the space just go for a CX-30 base turbo for $33.7k MSRP

I love my CX 30 but the glove compartment is small and the cup holders compared to my old Mazda 3 are too far forward. I occasionally have confection issues with the android auto. That might not be the Mazda. Once I got use to it the entertainment controls they were fine.

Why do they have such a confusing lineup?

I prefer the face of the CX-50 but the body is too wide and the amount of lower plastic on it is ridiculous

Does the CX-30 have a power passenger seat for the front passenger? Or is it just manual?

Why even have these comparisons? Its not like you can go out and buy a new car today! Most of the reliable brands are 6 months to a year wait! By the time your get your car the next model year is already out.

I have a 22 CX30 & I think you nailed this comparison. I would have gotten the CX50 if I could have afforded it, but I am still blown away by how my sub $28k vehicle has almost every feature I want and even had on the vehicle I traded in that cost almost twice what I paid for the Mazda. I wish it had wider tires and I’m baffled that you don’t get heated side mirrors unless you go for the turbo premium plus model. That feature should be standard on all models for safety reasons.

Turbos just invite problems and expensive repairs

I own a CX5 and in the market to buy my wife (well mosty for me) a CX30 and this has helped me a lot

The wife and I are interested in the CX5 and CX30. She likes the CX30. It will be her car as she is 5'3". Who here wishes, in hindsight, they had bought the CX5? Any regrets? Thanks. I drive an F-150.

I was looking to buy a sports sedan, but with the state of St. Paul roads (potholes, patch work, and unplowed), I went with something that was enjoyable to drive, but could also handle the road conditions. And while the CX50 doesn’t have the smoothest ride when faced with various road imperfections (I went with the 20” wheels, which was obviously counterintuitive), I feel confident that it can handle most situations and really enjoy driving it.

Just bought my black beauty CX50 Select. The seats are not like he stated as mine are leather with center stitched type cloth. Very comfortable. It doesn’t have that center stitching thing. thank goodness. I traded in my 2018 Mazda 3 Hatchback for it (prior to that it was a Mazda MX5 Miata convertible and they gave me such a great deal that I ended up just paying my new CX50 by credit card and the next day I just paid off the credit card and now I have a paid off CX50. I looked At Cadillac, Lexus, BMW, Honda, Hyundai and none of those appealed to me both in the interior or exterior. My husband has a beautiful black Genesis G80 and he can’t stop talking about my CX50. But he loves his Genesis and it’s nice having a black sedan and crossover combo. Cx50 came out right after i bought the cx30. I love the 30 to death but have two complaints that make me wish i had the 50. At 80mpg i cruise at 2.5k rpm which makes me feel like it needs one more gear (ive had three mazdas now and they seem to set the 'ideal speed' lower each time i upgrade. But that isnt available in the 50 either... What is is more backseat leg room lol

i wish they had more variance in looks, too similar.

Went from a 2020 CX-5 to a 2023 CX-50 and the the CX-50 is better in every way.

Go with the CX-5 and you won't regret it..there is a reason why it regularly outsells the CX-50 4-1 and 2-1 over the CX-30.(Mazda sales numbers). I would guess until the CX-70 arrives it will continue to be Mazda's best seller!

I like my sex life but I want something different. The next best option was a CX 50 and I test drove one the other day and I really like that.

Yes the CX 50 has a stiffer steering wheel, way sporty feeling I’m afraid to take corners quick because of the torsion beam idk if that makes a vehicle to more porn to losing control

hi @Realistick great video, you touch great points in my opinion, but Not sure if you can do another video with emphasize in the suspension between cx 5 vs cx 50 in deep in order to know which is better in this comparison in bad roads, because many times we saw reviews in great roads, but in the real life we need to pass for bad roads many times and there is other experience than most of the reviews we saw in the internet.

CX5 all day everyday

Love the CX 50, but they made a few too many cost cutting moves on it, but it drives better than the 5 and, in my opinion, the styling is a little more masculine for male drivers.

The CX-5 is perhaps the best driving/handling small crossover south of the Porsche Macan. I'm so glad I purchased my 2022 CX-5 Turbo Signature over a CX-30 comparable top-trim CX-30 or CX-50; it is the best car of the three - made in Japan, best handling/performing, and best quality.

I bought the 30 after driving it and a 5 back to back.
I love the 30. It's NA Premium edition.

Only the CX-5 has independent rear suspension and acoustic glass. That’s the one I’d get.

The cx30 is too small even if don’t have kids. The cx 5 is a good value but lack being manly. The cx 50 is thr sweet spot. You don’t have to buy to turbo bcs it will add more maintenance cost. Get the premium plus and you will be happy with bigger rims and other bell and whistles
