I can see the use in this but I'd have just used debug.log. Why is it so difficult to add buttons to the inspector though?

Would be interesting to see comparison of updated out of box UI editor API and Odin Inspector API for UI extensions — like which one is currently more code-friendly and visually appealing better. I thought making Unity UI out of box without Odin is gonna be painful...

I use the OnPreviewGUI to draw a preview of a MIDI file in the inspector for Sound Reactor Pro. However, I just looked, and I inherit from Editor, not ObjectPreview.
