I don't know. It may offer the "visceral" experience of being one with nature but you're still not an organic part of it. Like hiding your cars from view doesn't deny the reality that you're driving them through nature to reach your home. Reminds me of a lot of the problems I have with modern tech, especially in the digital age. Everyone thinks they're doing something good (i.e. connecting people in a superficial way via social media) but it's... somehow inauthentic.
ОтветитьAbove Mendocino coast?
ОтветитьI don't understand the constraints. There aren't any house out there.
Ответитьdeep, rich. no kidding.
ОтветитьStunning location. Let's keep in mind we had a very wet season in California so no wonder the hills are so green. Most of the time is very dry and brown. Love the location but wildfires freak me out on places like that. Still, it's a gorgeous place and house looks awesome.
Ответитьamazing project, top notch
ОтветитьThe music got annoying at the end.
ОтветитьLovely
ОтветитьI can tell he really loves a good succulent
ОтветитьThis is one of my favorite places on the planet. If I had the money this is where I would build my house. This place is just gorgeous. Well done!
ОтветитьThese people do nothing but attempt to polish turds.
At the end of the day, it's all just the same, overpriced, brutalist boxes that pollute the landscape.
a seriously beautiful and well designed architectural gem. as a practicing architect myself with a similar design approach to architecture I find both the actual building, the environment and landscaping, the narrative and the film-presentation extremely inspirational. thank you ;-)
Perfection. Well done.
ОтветитьPlease replace that Home Depot dining light fixture.
ОтветитьWhoa. A home an entire 30-minutes from the closest store?! Such brave pioneers. 🙄
ОтветитьThe interior is nothing but concrete and slick surfaces---about as cozy as a morgue.
ОтветитьV.O. Come on Dan you can do it, just say solar plane, I believe in you. Then we can be invited to speak at different events and even blend in with the rest of humans.
Please just listen to me, say S O L A R P A N E L. You can do it. Remember that time mom made us noodle soup and you stopped yourself from saying dihydrogen monoxide Triticum aestivum mixture? It's just like that.
DAN: PHOTOVOLTAIC ARRAY
And all this can be yours for the low low price of 40 million dollars😮😮😮😮
ОтветитьWow, the place, the view and the words used to describe the house and the environment that inspired this one of a kind project. Absolutely breathtaking! Thanks.😊🙏
ОтветитьAbsolutely gorgeous!!
ОтветитьQuero morar nessa casa
ОтветитьGarden on top of roof is a very bad idea. Going to have leaks for sure over time. A roof needs to be kept dry, well-drained and maintained.
ОтветитьI am floored.
ОтветитьAs a builder I have to ask how they brought concrete into this location? I'm planning something similar as a retirement location and with the future fire situation on the west coast concrete is my material of choice, but I keep running into that question of how do I get sufficient volumes of concrete into such a remote location?
ОтветитьJust a beautiful House to live....
ОтветитьLe rêve 😻😻😻😻🥰❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьBeautiful. Gotta be on the Lost Coast between Shelter Cove and Ferndale.
ОтветитьI’m rich biatch!!
ОтветитьMatching the cement and steel of nearby trestles & gates...love that. Was there ever a thought of using rammed earth instead of straight cement?
ОтветитьAmazing house and the closest I have seen to what I would like to build myself in a few years. Still I miss one thing: curtains. While during the day I want to enjoy the connection with the outside and the wonderful views in the evening I want to be able to close up in a warm and cosy setting and this is pretty much never addressed in these videos. It is similar when seeing adds selling nice villa's - all the focus is on the potential on a pleasant sunny day while in the end it is in the dark and cold moments (or the extreme warm) that you absolutely need the shelter and confort your house can provide. Last but not least input on energy usage, building costs and strategies on how to minimize them would also be welcomed. I plan to use (positive) angled overhangs as shown in this house to maximise winter sun while blocking the summer sun. And also leave parts of exposed concrete and cover other areas with (self-made) wooden wardrobes, benches etc to minimize plastering costs and facilitate the passage of utilities (electricity, plumbing) which then becomes easier, cheaper and more accessible to install.
ОтветитьThe amount of money spent does it justify being off grid? The property is worth millions!
ОтветитьGreat view of Mount Tamalpais!
ОтветитьDamn, the misaligned tops of the glass guardrails bug me.
ОтветитьAs a luxury villa developer I truly appreciate the awesomeness of this off grid project. Perfection!
ОтветитьIn or near Hollister Ranch north of Santa Barbara? not far from Point Conception perhaps.
ОтветитьIt is absolutely beautiful no doubt about it, but my question is : how do you buy a piece of land like this ??? and with the Cali regulations and the remote area this is a million $$$$ project
ОтветитьLike the place, guy is way too jargon-y.
ОтветитьI can only imagine this to be a very quiet, isolated, ESCAPE from the modern world. A quiet that almost nobody gets to experience. I think one week here would provide some amazing healing to anyone going through a crisis or simply needing to truly get away. I can imagine this to be a great place to write.
That spectacular view would be difficult to say goodbye to though.
Spectacular show!
ОтветитьUnderwhelming. The algorithm will probably hide this comment but this project is incredibly underwhelming.
1. The driveway is massive. How can you say you're being enveloped in nature free of cars when you have a driveway that can of parking maybe 20?
2. On the subject of materials; building with high carbon materials like metal and concrete is not necessary structurally and given you try to cover up the cold nature of those materials with warm wood speaks to how poorly planned and inauthentic the materials are.
I'll stop there, but overall seems like just another project with a big budget and nothing to show from it.
Rust dripping from the roof is a turn off
Concrete doesn't age gracefully
It’s interesting design-wise, but I would love to know more about the engineering. Foundation? Piers into bedrock? How does this septic system work? What is he talking about “treating”? Energy storage?
ОтветитьLove the location, I have thought about building a house in the northern coast of California, but the budget is beyond me lol.
ОтветитьFantastic design and a breath taking setting
ОтветитьДоброе утро.спасибо вам за прекрасные видео.давно вас смотрю❤
Ответитьthere is no way this house generates enough electricity to be sustainable... how are you generating enough electricity to power the pumps, lights, plugs, etc?
ОтветитьI live deep in nature and off grid and want to congratulate all involved for such a wonderfully designed and considered structures.
