Slmost every generation brought something great.

1st Gen is the OG.

2nd gen is low key better looking than the first with the split bar

3rd gen is a victim of choking emissions regulations.

4th gen is the most aerodynamic Camaro ever

5th gen restarted the pony car wars

6th gen is engineering excellence. LT1 tank of an engine, the unbeatable 10 speed, the world class Alpha chassis, Magnaride. Each of those pieces of the Camaro are masterpieces on their own. Greatest Camaro ever and a grand touring GOAT 👑👑

Why is weight such a big deal for the 5th gen camaro. Its a muscle car and its the lightest one out of the Mustang, Challenger and Charger. Its supposed to be heavy af. That was one of the biggest criticism that the 6th gen had. It was too light for some people and they didnt like the sports car feel over the heavy muscle car feel.

My very first vehicle was the 1967 Camaro. It was always special to me because my relative sold it to me when I was in college. It was the 350-V8, 295 hp SS-RS with 2 speed transmission.
The unique thing about my car was it had the "Panther" emblems on both sides of the vehicle. I loved that car and after wrecking it in 1979 and garaging it for the next 41 years, I decided to have it completely restored so that I could experience the exciting performance of this incredible machine. It should be finished in a couple of months, and I intend to pamper it and maybe show it in car shows. Ivee learned that GM never owned up to producing a Panther, but I own one. Thank you for your video. I'll subscribe for the information you provided in this one. Great information.

As someone who’s owned a 5th gen now for 6 years, it IS a sports car. The weight is a nonissue when you take it through corners, the body roll is virtually nonexistent, the handling neutral, progressive, and predictable, and the chassis and suspension rigid. It’s not some boat that can’t handle; 5th gens can absolutely dance and are very nimble cars. Outward visibility being bad is also overblown; I can see everything just fine out of the front windshield, rear view mirror, rear window, side mirrors, and side windows.

I had a base model '84 Camaro. It had a carbureted 2.8L V6. It was a DEAD DOG! In late '96 or early '97, I blew that motor, and yanked a 305 (5.0L) out of a '78 Malibu wagon. I drove the wagon before we pulled the motor, and it would have creamed the Camaro. So, swapping the motor into the lightweight body (complete with the 2 barrel carb and cast iron manifolds) meant an instant improvement in the power to weight ratio. I also got a 700R4 from a GTA because the original 700R4 from the V6 wouldn't bolt up to the V8. A little at a time, I threw on a Holley Street Dominator dual plane manifold and a Carter AFB 625cfm carb, headers with a Walker/Dynomax Turbo II cat-back exhaust, Accell ignition, and it was quite fun to drive.

I'm biased, so this stuck out to me... you didn't mention that the 5th Gen outsold all its competitors, but you did mention that the 6th Gen was outsold by its competitors. Just sayin'.

This video has given me some ideas for my 77 which I am planning to restore body to a 70 1/2, find a wrecked or cheap 6th gen to use the suspension and drive train... hopefully looking a little like the Roadster Shop Rampage on completion. I'm sure it will cost me into the 6 figures and a few years of my time.

Awesome video and sounds like your books are as well!! I have saved your site to buy later. However the1977 Z28 was just a suspension and decal package. Do some more research it was much more. Look up Hot Rod magazine review and front cover which shows all the parts to make a Z-28.

I don't why. but the 1976 Camaro I had that I was the second owner of, sure seemed like it was a lot more powerful than the 100-ish horsepower 305 V8 that it had in it. I don't what the first owner did to it--I only found out I was the second owner when I bought it new in 1987. But one look under the hood, didn't look like it had any modifications to me. It just seemed like a fast car for its HP rating

Something I always thought would have been cool with the 5th gen is a good low trim level V8 model. Your choices were a lame 6 cylinder version next in line an expensive ss with a LS3, that cuts out a lot of potential customers that refuse to have a V6 pony car but can't swing the substantially more expensive SS. Why they didn't make an RS that was low optioned but came factory with a 4.8 or 5.3, it would be comparable to the old gen 2s and 3s that came with a weak kneed lower level 305s. I had a perfect loaded almost fully optioned 85 Z28 in mid 90s it had all the fixings except it had an LG4 305. It was not "fast" at all but being a V8 it felt torquey n fun, with some finesse you could fool people that it was powerful.blub blub blub ahhh i just don't like to cut er loose.... it was a V8 car that goes a longggh way in my book. Same with fifth gen there's people that don't care about having a road burner but want V8 rumble ya know, and all of the base V8 powered models were like the budget builders model, you have a car that's slow but very easily modified to haul the mail. Could you imagine if 4.8L gen 5s were a thing how many would have turbos by now and be out there nipping at the heels of stock hellcats and 500hp coyotes or even smoking SS gen 5 models. I personally despise I4 and v6 pony cars and I say why why? But driving a 95 5.0 mustang gt I see V6 mustangs ALLLLL the time. I actually don't see GTs very often maybe 1 or 2 out of 10... I now see why they make em they sell like hot cakes and it helps CAFE mandates but why they sell so much I dunno there sooo lame. I'd rather have a 200hp V8 than a 300hp V6 any day, it's a vibe thing the V8 rumble, red blooded Merica! Not just a tiny weener fixer gotta have V8 Brah thing ya know.

Had a 2013 Camaro convertible, white with black top and Katzin custom cream leather. Loved it but drop top weather too short in Phx, so I traded it in for a 2018 RS in Hyper blue with black 20s. Loved the look, hated the cramp, too tight and the ride was too stiff. I traded that one in for 2019 Impala V6. Missed the sports car look, so 5 days after last Challenger rolled off the line, I picked up a modded 2017 SRT392. Way better than the Camaros, useable back seat & decent trunk space. Gas milage not so much in Challenger, we call it smiles per gallon.

5th gen Camaros should have came optional with a turret so a passenger can blast racing rivals into oblivion, because the visibility resembles a tank.

After being around all of these cars over the years.. I've come to feel like the best Camaro they ever made was 2010-2015 ( my favorite being the 2014 z/28 ) but those cars are just built like tanks, yeah they're heavy but I feel like 40 years from now your gonna see a lot of the 5th gen Camaros sitting around car shows, where certain other cars of the era.. not so much.. Just foreshadowing.

I only like the First 2 generations. Same with the Firebird. They lost me after that.
2nd Gen being my favorite. Up to 73. The 74’s with the big bumpers arent very nice looking to me. Only thing that came out after 73 that i wish was on the 70-73’s would be T-Tops. Its such a great look on any car.
