I would definitely bring a case of smelling salts, I would faint just by looking at these bridges, (I have a severe fear of heights) once revived, I would turn around and go back the way I came and kiss the ground.

The Chesapeake Bridge does not connect to Virginia to Maryland, but Virginia To Virginia. Once you cross the bridge and tunnel to Cape Charles, it is another 60 miles or more to Maryland.

The bridge in the picture is so outrageous that would defer common sense that it exists

I have been on 7 mile, Royal Gorge,but the Tampa-St Petersburg,FL that was hit in 80's. One side came down. During the rebuilding, it was temp fixed w/ grate to keep up with traffic. Got stuck at middle of night due to car wreck. Just on grate, it was seriously creepy.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge or the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel? They are tow different things. You described the bridge, but showed the Bay Bridge Tunnel. They are located at different crossings.

I am terrified of driving over bridges - drove over the Chesapeake Bridge back in 2008 on hols in the US. Looking at it now, I have no idea how I did that.
