Born and raised in Halifax Nova Scotia, Dave Wells' real family name was Upshaw. He performed on the cast of Frank's Bandstand in 1964 and joined The Singalong Jubilee Cast in 1967. He performed with the Four Winds and The Musical Friends until the mid 1970s when he moved to Toronto, where he remained until 1980.

Recorded March 8, 1969 at CBC studios in Halifax by Dave and his group (which included the likes of notable keyboard player Joe Sealy). The material was subsequently licensed to and re-mixed by Paragon Records for this issue (however another pressing exists, not on a label, with no cover, and has additional songs). Definitely a cousin of label mates King Herbert, Jack Harden, Frank Motley, and Don Carrington's Trio with it's Funk/Soul leanings.
Enjoy this cover of Brenton Wood's Gimme A Little Sign.
