Would they date me? I am Russian but grew up in America.

Funny how Russians (slavic peope in general) speak about having different mentalities.
I am a foreigner who dated and married an Ukrainian man (from sovietic generation) and there are many ways a man and a woman can understand each others, feeling especially.
The first is by making love. Love, not random sex. Seems so strange? It's not. In bed you can understand each others really well.

Second is by cooking. She cooks something good for you : she cares about you.

Three: looking at each others. Eyes speak. The way she or he looks at you tells you a lot.
