Under Water Nuclear Test (it went bad)

The problem was the water.

When a nuke is set off on land, the radioactive particles are spread and diluted over great distances in a cloud.


But in this instance, it was contained in the water, which resulted in a radioactive rain fall that got all over the surviving ships.


Afterwards, the Navy attempted to scrub these ships clean to prove that their ships could survive the explosion, but the men who worked on them started to get sick from the radiation.

It was determined that they would have needed to grind these ships down to almost nothing before they were at a safe radiation level.

They where all captured or retired ships from ww2. None where in service. And they where trying to find out what happened
