GTX 1060 3GB VS RX 470 4GB: Forza Horizon 3 PC Benchmarks

It's obvious that the 1060 runs out of vram and slows it down. Have the exact same thing happening with my 780 Ti. Even a 1050 Ti reks my 780 Ti in Forza. :(

i have never used dynamic settings. i'm kind of a new gamer so i don't really know how many games support it. however i really like the idea and i hope allot of games use dynamic graphics settings in the future. when you think about it. why wouldn't you want your game to automatically push the graphics to max during "slow cinematic" scenes. then turn graphics settings down for fast paced parts of the game. if the game makers are smart about dynamic settings they should be able to changes settings based on where or when you are in a game and not base it off fps. that way you wont get any stutter between the time the game detects fps drop and the time that the settings are turned down. it sounds really complicated but man that would make pc gaming that much better then console gaming in every freaken way possible

The game eats Vram. with 2GB the frame rate drops from 30fps to 10fps with AA, FXAA on.

Why couldn't Nvidia make a GTX 1060 with 4GB of VRAM instead of 3GB. They always have to F***up somewhere and come out with lame excuses, don't get me wrong, I love Nvidia products, but sometimes wonder if I'm paying too much for less over time. What do you guys think, should I go with a Louder and Hotter RX card or stick with something cooler and quieter but overpriced and lacking performance in some areas ?

It would be great if you would test it with 30 FPS cap (just like on the Xbox One). I suppose the GTX 1060 3 Gb would feel much better providing a constant FPS (maybe even at ultra settings).

Scripted, unscripted, do whatever you think is better. What you prefer will probably look better on camera. This is the first vid of yours I've seen but I'm digging the data-driven approach. Too much speculation and prediction in a lot of tech videos nowadays.

At least Nvidia users can just turn on G-sync and can have a very good experience regardless of the FPS being a bit lower!

I can't believe a lot of people are recommending the 3gb 1060 over a 4gb 480/470..

I was worried about how my RX470 was going to deal with Horizon 3 since MS is known for release poor optimized games, but it's pretty ok I suppose making some adjusts (or waiting for a patch) I will get 60FPS

I bet that 3gb really isn't helping. Honestly, between the 4gb 470 or 480 and the 3gb 1060, it's a no-contest, imho. Nvidia is trolling people with 3gb and 10% less cores with the cut-down 3gb 1060.

I'd advise 1060 purchasers to go 6gb or bust. 4gb is the minimum nowadays.

Nice benchmark! Wished you had a better RX470, the Nitro+ for example (reference card does throttle due to power limit AND temperatures sometimes). And some nice background music would be lovely! Otherwise GREAT video!

Unscripted is way more you :) but pretty good win on that 470 over the 3GB 1060. that frame buffer seems to really be needed in most DX12 titles I've tested so far.
