Even if you did manage to get past Chemical 2, Studiopolis 1's boss requires you to run through safe areas and collect rings. You can't jump during these segments, so even if you did get past Chemical 2 you'd be stuck.

I know away to do this first if you get a ring and hit a enemy you will lose all of the rings
