I love that you share your progress in the gym, and it has nothing to do with your body (not that it's wrong to have aesthetic goals, but the internet is full of that). Good luck with the kettlebell program! :)

Just to share some of my own gym progress, I’m working toward a goal of being able to squat 100lbs and I’m up to 90-95 now! Want to make sure my form is consistent before I attempt the 100, but I’m so close! Anyway I hope you had a great vacation and that we’ll hear about it in a video sometime 🙂

I enjoy these so much. I'm a personal trainer, and I love seeing other trainers' workouts. It always reminds me of something I've forgotten or helps me understand a concept I never really "got", as well as thinking about ways to meet the needs of clients who have very different goals. Thanks for your work!

Luckily I trained with a trainer privately for 3 years and learned a shit ton. Thankfully I can still text her if I have questions etc. I do a full body routine 3-4 times a week that I change every quarter. I don't use machines since there is always a wait. I use weights, TRX (my fav.), balance ball and resistance bands. I started going often in June of 2023. I have since lost 5 LBS but look leaner. What I have found is that working out often is like taking a high dose antidepressant drug.

Thanks for sharing this! Just curious about your trap bar lift - do you use the higher bar or the lower bar to grip?

Love this update! Can you explain how the increased weight at a decreased rep range still counts as a strength gain? Is the goal to eventually work the rep range back up to a hypertrophy range before increasing the weights again?
I also took your recommendation from a Vlogmas review and have been using Jason and Lauren Pak's RISE program the last two months! I love it! At the end of the next block we are testing a 1 rep max squat. I'm pumped1

You can almost lift a 40-lb bag of cat litter with your Turkish getups. Cool. Yes I do weights based on how many bags of cat litter that corresponds to. It’s my mobility and stability motivator. 😂😂😂

I remember a tip you had from years ago about doing strength training before cardio, and that has really helped a lot, as I would be winded out and tired after doing cardio then trying to lift weights. Doing the weight work first then dropping it for a cardio or Pilates/yoga workout (as I like to arrange workout videos in order in my Watch Later queue daily) helps to keep that a routine, or knowing when I want to lift weights vs. take a day off from that and do no-equipment workouts.

You saying 35# on TGU just gave me horrid flashbacks of being in a crossfit class and the coach trying to get a class of people to do TGUs when they didn't know how and women grabbing 35# and men grabbing 53# since those are the "Rx crossfit KB weights".

Any tips on building out a split like this in your fit club? I loved the kettle bell program and never considered keeping the skills day in weekly!

I love the way you talk about exercise, it’s just so refreshing compared to so much of the internet. I’m taking a break from weight lifting to just do some cardio for a little while after getting back from vacation. Just for a little variety.

Fabulous deficit push ups. (I actually have to do them early in the workout or I can't do them). This was an amazing video. Congrats on all your progress! I love it when people post numbers and they're not all crazy (probably fake) numbers but like decent, attainable. Three pull ups in a row is a great achievement and not one I will probably ever be able to do. I might add a skillz day... my husband gave me a soccer agility ladder as a romantic present (lol... other people's lives right) but I have got some heavy kettlebells, too... hmm, it's interesting to think about. It would be cool to see a video of you brainstorming lots of skills day ideas to give us some inspiration!❤

I've been nursing my shoulder and resting it completely. Trying to be creative in the gym with body weight unilateral leg exercises, core and that knee extension machine (the only leg machine my apartment complex has). I've also been trying to do more cardio recently: incline walking, attempting to run and just going on walks.
Thank you for this video! Your progress gives me hope with my shoulder as well

Did you happen to complete the Functional Training Anatomy Course? I see the CFSC qual in your bio so wondering if you did that too or if you have heard if this was good. My PT cert was not up to standard for Functional Anatomy and I have been tossing up this course for a long time! Thanks! Great video also :)

For the external rotation -> abduction, could you do that without straightening the arm? I just wonder if straightening the arm makes the latter half more of a tricep exercise than an abductor exercise.

I am currently studying to become a personal trainer and I just wanted to say that I love your approach! I totally agree that you should not be coaching a skill that you haven't mastered yourself. Also, really loving the focus on functionality lately, definitely the direction i want to go in :)
