Oman was one of my favorite campaigns ever. So many avenues of expansion, and a very unique/powerful ibadi islam religion. Quantity then religious, and your game is won.

Good guide. I did it as Oman by opening in a similar way to you described, but then conquering Baluchistan, culture shifting to Baluchi (which is in the Iranian group) and the forming the Mughals. Bit of a slower start but by the Age of Absolutism I had most of India and a big chunk of Persia under my control. After that it's basically a regular Mughals game

Pate is probably by far the easiest, 7-8 gold mines around them, tons of inflation but they made that new privilege for African nations to fight the hyper inflation. So if you build up your power base, boom Kilwa out, boom mutapa dead, making like 40-50 ducats or more when you dev them all to 10, plus I think kilwa and mutapa have some pretty good monuments.

Also you can debase currency and use the legalism thing every 5-10 years for a bunch of gold.

Making mysticism high from events will give you like 100 autonomy in a couple provinces

Happy birthday and thanks for this, this is a really comprehensive guide to get over the start. I'm currently on a Granada-Andalusia playthrough and your guide was useful for the first ~25 years. If you have time I would like to see a guide for Najd - I can never get initial expansion fast enough to have any powerbase enough to fight the Mamluks or Ottomans, nor can I find anywhere to exodus to where I can get 500 provinces to convert.

Really great stuff! I think Mzab is definitely the most preferred start, as you can get three achievements (the Carthage one after you form Tunis, unlikely candidate, and third way)

Hey all, sorry this was a later in the day upload, is my birthday so family was keeping me from the computer so I could actually push this live.

I know that alot of people really want to do it as Mzab, but it is just so RNG based I don't recommend it, but when it actually works (like it did) it can be fun, so have at it.

Let me know what you guys want me to do next.
