We were invited to a church dinner in Hinkley
Everything was fine until it was time to eat
I made sure I got a water bottle
So I hit the bathroom to wash up has I normally do before eating when I reached for the towel I realized I washed my self in Hinkley water the though was omg what did I do
Then the members who lived in Hinkley offered us home grown veggies and strawberries yumm they said we grew them here but omg no thanks we went home starving and stupid

Julia Roberts. What a movie. What a tuching and mostly true story!
Steven Soderbergh said about her smile: " She could solve the energy problem of California - ONLY with her smile."

Thats quite a compliment.
In my view Julia Roberts broke absolutly new ground for herself with this movie. After that she could do anything.
That's not only talent and life expirience.
And to be so bold to play and be such a angry, brave and tough woman. Single mum of 3 kids with no good upbringing.

Classy. Truthful and soulfull.

It makes me laugh how Albert Finney says that 250 K won’t come close to covering the hospital bills. But even after the landmark settlement that they got, most of the defendants, didn’t even get anywhere close to that amount. It all went to the lawyers.

and the lawyer played by Albert Finney simply KEPT the money. tens and tens of millions for his cases, largely medical cases where the patient is disabled for life, and NEEDS the coin. how he got away with not being disbarred I find incredulous. My HS debate hero had ONE instance of co-mingling client funds and California disbarred him. this guy walked for decades and is now in hsi nineties? All funds are now in his wife's name, claiming she "earned it".

Such a nice end the other secretary turning on the light and finally accepting her though she's wearing a red leather top. I really have my doubts about the EPA if it's an independent law firm instead of them trying to help out so many victims.

I was in a car accident that left me with a syrinx in my spinal column. (Think balloon that continues to fill with spinal fluid until it completely blocks the fluid from continuing to flow down the cord.) The starting offer was 10k for my chronic pain and inablity to work anymore. I was done with them within the first 5 minutes of meeting with their lawyer.

Pretty silly scene. This is an associate at a top law firm. Even if he is just straight out of some ivy league law school he is a lawyer that was special enough to get hired at a top law firm. He isn't an intern nor most likely not an idiot. There is no reality that he would admit to not being allowed to offer more money. He would have simply said, fuck you sue us, in so many legalese words. They do not send mail clerks to tell a shitty no name law firm to fuck off.

I guess my only point is they could have still made this scene feel good and smart at the same time. Instead they assumed all of their audience are morons.

Albert Finney is a legend on its own. Julia too, in her own rights. If you have yet see it... You can try watch Two for the Road, for instance. He was starred with Audrey Hepburn which seemingly emulating what you see here with Julia Roberts. Of course... When good actors is brilliantly dedicate to their art... it comes off as magic
