Unifi migrating your controller to a new controller or hosting solution

Your guide, although 3 years old now, was exactly what I was after, and allowed me to move to self-managed for the moment, until the $ magically appears for the upgrade thanks! :)

Thank you. Can I migrate the file instead of taking a backup and import it whatever I need on the same Unifi controller?

Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot with my migration. Just a small remark, it seems you forget to import the exported files in the second step while it is stated on the screen (at Migrate Site) therefore it seems you have to adopt the devices again. For me , by importing it at step 2 , it did do everything automatically. Also different versions of the UCK Gen 1 vs Gen 2 was no issue.

Followed you explaination and now its easier, well it was for me atleast. I had to go to the Legacy view to find the option. made my backup and entered the new IP address and started the migration, took about 20 sek to migrate and it was done. Thank you!

If I setup a cloud based controller, how do I adopt hardware to it?

I only saw you finalize the migration on MacTelecom site, not Don site. Did you have to import Don? Reason I ask is I have multiple sites. Also did you need to decom old key and then re-IP the Gen2? Thanks, all you videos are helpful.

Thanks. I’m a bit confused about having to adopt the devices again. I would expect this to automatically happen after exporting + restoring. If we need to adopt again by using the username and password, I think there’s a missing step on how to set/get such credentials, right? Or am I missing something?

I guess both Controllers need to be on the same firmware?
