diplomas are useless I have one and I'm unemployed, that was the biggest mistake of my life, if I could go back and redo it I would quit high school

I quit School over thirty years ago. Is there something that you can do about it ? ?

Dropped out at 16. I'm 20 and I've gotten jobs without a diploma, all I do is lie about having my diploma. At the end of the day I've gotten more out of it  out  then sitting in a class of kids jumping around and yelling. Most jobs ask about the diploma but don't even look into it, from what I notice its more about a criminal record and work experience that doesn't get you the job. To each his own I guess.

I can understand this because im in the same boat I have dropped out of school moved around and got lost in my education when i was young i try getting just a part time job whent to 34 places cut all my hair and shaved my face put on a button up dress shirt end even shook there persons hand before and after and didnt even get a phone call, someone i grow up with that was in a special education got one of the jobs i whent to apply for and there where on drugs to but i didnt say anything about that it was not my place to say ,they didnt even have a high school diploma but they got a paper that said they pass i whent to a community college when i was sixteen with a learning disablitiy off and on now thirty students in a class room one teacher , im twenty eight have a job with a tree service and work is slow and stay with my grandfather now since i have got age on me i dont think of a big house or a nice car i think about me not ever having the most greatest thing in this world ,which is a family of my own .

The GED is a pathetic excuse for those who would rather take more time to prepare and study for higher institutions of education or better paying/more fulfilling jobs. It is a stripped down shortcut for people who want to jump into the workforce because, unfortunately, most employers are not willing to train people anymore and they'd rather only hire people with diplomas, degrees, or GEDs - it is a shame. Instead, I support methods for adults who want to go back and finish their education more thoroughly via accredited and viable online high school programs. Unfortunately, those are not cheap and require more money and for those who are chronically unemployed - its a terrible catch 22 and as of yet, I haven't seen any solutions on how to help those people obtain their goals without ending up in further poverty. The other problem is that community colleges, at least in the state of Connecticut, require a mandation that a student who wants to study there has to be poisoned via vaccination. That is completely unwarranted and unethical!

Damn I’m glad I got my diploma

The worst part is I DONT EVEN NEED TO KNWO THIS STUFF IN LIFE. sure up to highschool, but after that I NEVER NEED TO USE IT IN REAL LIFE. So why finish highschool? On,y to get a job that doesn’t even require any part of what you learned. All it shows is that you gratuated, and that apparently means your smarter? Helll no.

I was kick outta school in the 3rd grade...1975...i couldn't go back because of low I Q.... Now I'm 55 years old homeless... No friends.. no family... No support... My family gave me away like 🗑 I was never adopted... never up for foster care ...no juvenile...the teachers passed me a around like a joint... I mostly live under boys bed... Living around hot water heaters ...i got caught...because I kept blowing out the 🔥....mostly living with strangers who took me in... I got tired of
Cleaning people house for a place to stay... Living On my own maybe..8 Year's the rest homeless shelters....but they like the life foundation put me out because of the ged program.... Also I was paying and working for my stay... But due to my low test scores from the homeless shelters... To Bill j. P. And Everest college... basically told me to go 🏡 and ⌚ 📺.... I worked hard... At the stewpot for years....never miss a day..never was 😷....when the staff changes....this bitch named Laura or whatever...fat country linebacker built broccoli hip having whore....just up and fire me because I get SSI and SSDI.... Anyway.... Y'all get your education.... thank with 🧠....

I Finnish high school but did not get my GED why it all start when i was 6 years old i had seasures and plus i whent to school in the midde 1995 my parents and teachers suggested because of my seasure they were going to put me in special ed class to be moniterd incase i started having seasure so as i whent to middle school and i stop having seasure you would think they would put me in a normal class right rong i ended up staying in special ed since 4th grade until i graduated high school thats 9 years straight being in a special ed program i had no advance math/history/science class in my life time to help me prepare for college and i had no help on how to manage my life in the real world

It's funny because every Californian who were enrolled in community college before July 2012 had to take prerequisite courses for English, and Math which by the way sucked for them ! but they were lucky that they didnt necessarily need a H.S diploma to receive a Pell Grant. 7 years later in Fall 2019 AB 705 had eliminated the requirements for prerequisites.

So should I got back to school and get my high school diploma or nah

I'm glad & thankful that I got my high school diploma - I did struggle with 2 classes but passed with a D - other classes were fine got me C & up !

I need class room teaching

They say you could substitute job experience, for not having a diploma, and the companies can't discriminate. Some people can't obtain a diploma, because of learning disability which does not have a cure, so why not make other options, if one door closes another door opens.

not having a high school diploma shouldn’t affect your life so much why because it’s what they’re teaching you in this school system forcing you to learn these subjects that have no utility what so ever unless your specifically tested on it other than that all you need to know is the basic and know what’s going on in the present. You shouldn’t be prevented todo things with your life just cause you don’t have your name on a paper indicating you went threw 4 years of shit.

Ridiculous that the government forces people to go to high school for three years, does not give any money help to people who do not have high school diplomas, and also does squat to protect 18 year olds with abusive parents from kicking them out.

I have so many students who are intelligent enough to complete their assignments, yet they choose instead to do nothing while in high school and then drop out and later have to attend adult education to at least get a GED. Sad & unfortunate.
