hm, having it be phone accessible isn't really a good selling point if it's the ONLY option and saying it like its a good thing

if i want to do vfx, i do it on good footage, not dogshit grainy phone footage where the white balance is off and the blacks n whites are clipping like crazy

Basically if you have shot with a cinema camera dslr or anything else despite an iphone. It is just a waste app. Back to square 1 lets do things old school way 😊

The app doesn't make sense until you can't fixate the exposure on the camera. By default, in the app, AutoExposure is switched on, which makes it impossible correct lightning in Blender, and you can't disable it. This is a significant defect.

Another version you can use for iphone is camtrackAR

Otherwise, old school works because it ticks the critical boxes. Is there anything like this for blackmagic 4k to blender? For this kinda money id like to think it can do as much as a phone

Heya, is there any chance you could do a video on taking the full 3d scene from blender into another program like nuke or after effects keeping all the materials and textures? I can't seem to find any video on bringing the scene over that doesn't get rid of the materials.

As a senior matchmove artist, i cant imagine this app/addon beeing used in professional and large scale production especially in action movies when most of the shots are blurry with motionblur and multiple moving elements (cars, extras, dust, rain, snow, debris).
Often we also need to create object tracks from the camera track solve and if camera track isnt pixel perfect with correct focal lengh and distortion,the object track is not gonna work properly.
And iam not even talking about tracking anamorphic lenses, animated distortion, rolling shutter removal, stereo camera trcking etc.
AI will help (already helping) with matchove a lot, but there is lot of things that program simply cant do right now.
But as a quick and simple way to track you footage for personal or small production purposes, this is awesome solution.

the video in 4 seconds: there is an app called tracky, that uses lidar and girodata of ur phone to create the cam track. there is a blender addon called tracky to import the file. dont waste ur time watching the rest of the vid

This is a bit misleading. The app works well because it uses the Iphone's LIDAR system which is a 3D detection and ranging system of itself. In this regard it's probably one of the most expensive camera tracking systems if you don't have a LIDAR equipped Iphone. I'll stick with Blender's integrated tracking system for now.
