The only thing I was thinking of during this video is how to break all the rules and still have a story.
Edit: I suddenly realized that Wim Wenders must have thought the same thing.

Patrick O'Brian does a masterful job of telling the story of two characters in his 20-volume series, the Jack Aubrey-Stephen Maturin books.

Thank you for interviewing Glenn Gers, he is the most wonderful writing teacher I have come across. I am actually making good progress on my story. Very grateful.

This is brilliant timing. Fourth time redrafting in three years... I'm going to get this thing done this time, and send it out to agents.

The Process Of The Writing Comes Natural, As An Explanation For The Genetic Heritage.

To Have This Called Writing Skills, It Is Never Meant To Happening To Just Randomly, Anybody.

People Whom Do Writing Very Well, Are In Real Time, Introverts Human Beings.

This Is Very True Indeed, That Writing It Is A Whole Process Of Constantly Questioning Of Everything, But Instead Wasting Time While Verbalising, It Is A Lot More Easy To Write It Down In The Most Logic Possible Way.

this was really informative! He is very passionate about what he talks about, and I appreciate his vulnerability (Stating that he is stubborn, keeps going back to his old way). I am going to use this for the table-top-role-playing-game homebrew I am creating for my players. Excited to get stared. Asking questions seems to be key to this!

I find music to be an excellent catalyst for developing a character and sequence of events. Sometimes, if there's a song I've been listening to a lot recently, I try to imagine it as a soundtrack for a scene or situation my characters are in. When I do that, the story really does develop a mind of it's own, and I feel like I'm just sitting there watching it in my head, like a movie.

It's an excellent way to help flesh out your story elements, while envisioning some new situations that your characters have to deal with.

This is gonna be a lot harder than I thought. I was thinking of a series called Titans of Light, and the story of a human adopted by anthropomorphic Lion parents from another universe. The human has been chosen to be the universes first celestial titan, the Titan of Light. (Sigh) I'm afraid that's all I know about the story in my series, I do wish that I have more ideas but I don't. I guess I don't have a great story.

Question 5 doesn't work for a lot of stories. Easy example: Naruto. You can answer all of the other questions for this story, but question 5 doesn't fit, because he does achieve his goal in his first attempt. It's a long attempt over the course of years, but it's a single attempt.

And before you start to hate on Naruto in particular, realise that 1) it's extremely popular and well known, so clearly it worked and 2) you can use a lot of other stories as an example. I could even use the Night Circus as an example of why questions 1, 2 and 3 don't necessarily work. It's mostly about the circus, though we do follow some characters, and there isn't something they want that they can't get, because it's about the circus and how it came to be.
