The irony here is that people were on the Genshin community's ass for "taking bribes" but the community knows from experience they get shit rewards from the company. The reality is genshin players hate losing and being insulted and likely banded together just to shut down the people that were hating on them. the sleeping bear was poked.

But this is like the only time I felt like we all won for thism this is like the only time the playerbase rallied and stood up for a game they really loved. As both a Sonic fan and a Genshin fan, i was surprised to even hear that there was some weird beef between the two fandoms. Even more surprised that it got so intense that bot voting was involved alongside a huge amount of toxicity? Idk how the heck i missed all of that but i'm glad i did. Whoever started this dumb war really need to get their act together. Just enjoy both games for their own merit! Why care about the Game Awards anyways?

I’ve never cared for sonic so this means nothing to me.

i like both genshin and sonic, (50h so far in frontiers which is a lot for me (with 12h over past 2 weeks) and ar37 in genshin) but man, GI shouldnt have been a part of game awards as a 2020 game. thats the only part that gets me.
you can talk about "sonic community toxicity" all you want but most of us just wanted to see the blue blur win at least 1 thing to show sega "hey, you did a good job, keep going" because of the past decade of games being disappointing to say the least. also most of us didnt resort to botting. obviously there are bad apples in both communities but you legit believe all sonic fans or all genshin fans are bad you need to actually talk to the opposite side and hear them out, but my point still stands that genshin, as a 2020 game, shouldnt have even been a part of 2022 game awards.
ps all this talk about how "if they didnt piss off genshin fans they wouldve gotten what they wanted" is also total bs, that would mean genshin fans botted. no matter how you look at it, it feels rigged. genshin won? toxicity and botting. frontiers won? toxicity and botting. the only thing thats different is which community is gonna rub it into others nose at the end of it all

PSS, to people saying genshin is eligible cause of sumeru, reminder that frontiers will have a huge update as well in 2023, so if it doesnt appear then, i think its safe to say we've been fucked over and missed our only chance to get sega to actually not rush sonic team like they always do..(going off on a tangent cause brain go brr) i mean fuck, they had to convince sega that frontiers wasnt ready for 2021, no idea how they managed to do that, so if genshin can have an update and be eligible for GA 2 years after its release, frontiers should be after 1 year as well, right? i dont think anyone can disagree on that

For dear Sonic fans out there, As both games fan I really really feel sorry for you all. You should've won if you didn't provoke them at the first place and genshin will not win any awards.
