Another edit: personally, I like the M1903 for the rifles, handguns I prefer the SG-09R for the laser sight and crits, maybe the Matilda if I wanna just throw a storm of lead because I absolutely hate the smgs, and I'm with you on the Riot Gun being the best shotty. Used to sorta like the bolt thrower because the mines make it easy to stun lock enemies like Dr. Sal or the Bella Sisters, but it sucks pretty hard for general purpose, Krauser and Ada have basically better versions of it in The Mercenaries, and it makes me wonder why we couldn't just get Krauser's bow as an upgrade for the bolt thrower in the base game.

It dawned on me (don don) at around the 35 minute mark that it makes a lot of sense that the guns in game would be modeled after airsoft weapons, because the RE devs worked with two airsoft companies named in the credits. Being bc Japan doesn’t have civilian firearm ownership 😅😂

Assuming R in any kind of acronym for a gun usually means "railed" meaning it has a picatinny rail

Hey Zach! I’m a SAMI and CSWI for the military (gun teacher) and I also spent probably way more time looking and appreciating these gun details like you. I recently found out while watching a documentary on RE7 why they look so good. When they ditched the RE6 engine because it looked horrible, in the the development of RE7 some genius directing the game demanded they have the cameras to scan real life objects into the game and integrate that into their new engine. It’s called photogrammetry and got carried over to the RE4 remake. Just if you’re wondering why all the models look so good.

Despite its apparently glaring inaccuracies to its real life counterpart (which I had no idea about cuz I don't know jackshit about guns), I actually really like the LE 5. It looks cool, and it's better than the TMP in pretty much every way imaginable (apart from realism but it's a video game so who cares)

The SG-09 R being a BETTER USP, my favorite handgun, than IRL is my favorite thing about it. Ergonomics, customization, etc.

I like to think that the RPDs standard issue is the browning HP but since the department is small they allow officers to carry their personal firearms for duty use if they choose this would explain Leons VP70 the Glock 19 Jill finds and the 1911 Marvin uses to shoot Brad also Chief Irons revolver

A bit late, but as a major fan of this game and guns in general, I gotta add that you only unlock the Matilda after beating the game in the OG resident evil 4, in the remake it's available for spinel trading almost immediately

I think the Blacktail is more modeled after the hs2000 pistols, than the Xd's, due to the game taking place in Spain. Which probably explains why the gap is big.

A note: There's two Kendo brothers. One died in Racoon City, true, but the other (who is supposedly more talented) is still alive, so far as we are aware.

Leon wasn’t issued the VP70 in RE2R, it was his gun of choice for some odd reason. And the RPD even knew that he liked this gun so they gave him the extended mag and compensator for it, if you unlock a puzzle they leave for you.

The Punisher is the best handgun in the game. Fight me!

Is it just me, or did they accidentally swap the names of the Riot Gun and the Striker? The describe the Riot Gun as semi-auto when it is clearly pump action and it is good at striking enemies at medium distances. The Striker is the one that is the one that seems like it would be good at short range against mobs of people. Like in a riot.

The shotguns having birdshot modeled in the weapons would explain how ganados can sometimes survive a shot or too. Doubt the farmers would have the shotgun for anything other than hunting.

I looked up the lore. There the Kendo brothers, his brother did the custom guns like the samurai edge. And his brother lived cus he wasn't in town when everything happened.

Oh, how I wish you could have the M1905 bayonet on the 1903. Without a scope, that would really lean into the close range, high damage weapon and adding the bayonet thrust to do damage and make some distance along with a bayonet charge for a high damage melee attack at the end of a 'run up'. That would've been cool.

It makes sense that the CQBR would look like it was modeled off an airsoft rifle, seeing as the laws in Japan

On the SG-09R, God I wish HK would make a re-release of the USP and base it off of this design. Also, the Kendo that we see in RE2 and 3 is Robert Kendo, he has a brother named Joseph who Is still alive. He lived in San Francisco at the time of the city's destruction.
