Tom, just saw this video while doing research for my school! Our high school doesn't want to do a broadcast class, so I'm pitching the idea for the Junior High! We have no where near the budget or classroom space y'all do, but this... this was inspiring! It's 6 years old, but still great! (Oh yeah, love your other stuff, too!)
ОтветитьLooking to build my own studio. Can you tell me what sound proofing you have on the walls and how I can get it?
ОтветитьYoung Tom!
ОтветитьI love it. I've been going through a cathartic process designing something compelling in my home office. Great video, Tom. :)
ОтветитьOmg you look so young back then.
ОтветитьGreat use of space. what is your actual on set dimensions?
ОтветитьCongratulations on landing such a great gift from Gun TV. I Love this video. I'm a teacher in Montana, and I'd really like to begin setting up a film studio for my Silent Film Making class. I know little to nothing about film cameras. I'm writing a grant to purchase equipment to film and produce silent films. Would you be able to give me advice on a simple to learn film camera that's going to have excellent quality? I'm I looking at spending $400 per camera? $800 per camera. I'd allow the students to use their Iphones to film, but our school is a zero cell phone school, even for classes. Congratulations again. I know you're swamped, but could you give me some advice on where to look for a excellent quality camera?
ОтветитьCovering the basics with a can do approach, offering ways to create broadcast studio with a professional look on a budget will be & I am sure has been appreciated by many. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьWell done, sir! Amazing studio. What was your total cost? Great donations and so true about teachers in video who have to dive in and how to do something. Good idea to label everything too! What models are your studio cams? Love it!
ОтветитьI love the self-reliant, punk rock, DIY style you have! This information doesn’t apply to me at the moment, but still really cool to see & oddly inspirational! Love the channel - keep going!!!
ОтветитьThanks!

ОтветитьLooks great!
ОтветитьThis is great. How wide is the brick wall set outside wall to outside wall?
ОтветитьHey Tom! what are your thoughts about green screen? would you prefer a painted wall or a curtain? Thanks!
ОтветитьWow, I am proud of you as well!! Great job!!
ОтветитьTom, well done. What are the dimensions (width and depth) of your studio room?
ОтветитьAMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьI ran my high school's tv studio as a student for 3 years. I had a 7 minute show each morning and never got a single rehearsal. I wanted to build things, organize things, improve things, and upgrade things, but I couldn't. Because I couldn't just go in there whenever I wanted. I was a student. My time and resources were extremely limited. I had drawings of sets much like these. The entire show was dominated by the morning announcements, so my entire show was scripted by random teachers.
I was able to accomplish quite a bit on the graphics side since I could design and prepare all of that at home (hundreds of late nights). I even created a completely novel afternoon broadcast to show that you could use the studio to communicate the announcements without a set. It looped the announcements with audio and video. Wasn't easy to engineer. The idea was to allow the morning show to actually be a show, not just a table reading of cooking instructions.
5 years later, I am thinking about going into teaching. I see this video and I see this project as something I could have done as a 10th grader if I had had the resources and time. This was my vision at that time. I had the technical knowledge to do all of this at that age. So my concern about this video is I wonder if you have any students at your school like me. If you did, I would imagine those students would have been extremely disappointed when they came in on the first day of school and to their horror realize that ALL of this work has already been done. They didn't get to help. They didn't get to contribute. They didn't get to design their own studio. Every detail of that studio is you. It's not your studio, sir. It's your students' studio. It seems to me like you treated this project as if it was your basement studio at home.
That's no way to teach.
That looks awesome! What were the dimensions of the room your studio was built… Also, how long did it take you? It really looks nice!
ОтветитьYour so awesome, YOUR School, Students and Parents are so lucky to have an amazing Teacher such as yourself. THANK YOU so much for all you do...
ОтветитьAmazing! But one question. What software do you use for the graphics
ОтветитьBob's Burger made me sub
ОтветитьGreat video and nice work!
ОтветитьThe context in this video is incredibly helpful. I've been trying to design my studio and its great to see where you started and what you can build too. It's incredibly helpful to someone who is just starting off.
ОтветитьHey I know that set I can believe you were the teacher
ОтветитьThanks for sharing your this is inspiring. You did a great job
ОтветитьWhat are you using for teleprompters?
ОтветитьHello tom, am a teacher and video producer please do you recommend to buy content and graphic for my marketing
ОтветитьHi Tom. Doing the same in NJ. Thanks for the inspiration. What are the sizes of those backdrops?
ОтветитьWOW excellent job! Now I know who can hire when I’m ready to build my studio! :-)
ОтветитьTom,
As a fellow instructor of video production, I know every bit of your pain. I've been exactly where you are. It's difficult for people to understand all of the steps that we have to go to to get it all done! I wish we could trade notes!
Love this!
ОтветитьCan Relate to your experience - We are My Startup TV build our studio we will be incorporating some additional modifications in our studio inspired by your studio
ОтветитьThanks Tom , I'm trying to improve on broadcasting on LiveMe so this is so useful 👍 Thank you so much
Ответитьhi, I am researching how to become a broadcasting teacher and I was wondering what is the major I would need to apply for to start the process and also would I have to minor in teaching as well. I would hopefully like to teach high-school or college (preferably community cc).
ОтветитьI am a teacher at Rockbridge Elementary School in DeKalb County, right outside of Atlanta. My background is in theater, (acting and directing). My students love doing the morning news show. It is very juvenile and simple right now, and I want to take it to the next level. Your studio is awesome! I know our studio is not the same caliber as yours but we want to make it better. You are an inspiration.
ОтветитьOutstanding job!
ОтветитьAwsome Job.... and you can really be proud of it 😀👏 I wanna build a studio as well and try to figure out as you did what´s necessary and how to fix it all together that it works pretty well ;) Enjoy your studio and i am really happy for you and your pupils.... cheers from germany ;)
ОтветитьMan, you SHOULD be proud! That's an amazing set up! I especially love the labeling and cable management. Not because I'm organization freak myself, but I think that will genuinely help students also learn about the inner workings of your set on their own. Kudos once again 😃
ОтветитьEver thought of teaching voiceover, in your broadcast class? You may not be a coach but with your can-do attitude, you'd probably figure it out, or at least be able to cover it decently.
ОтветитьI wish I could give a hundred likes! This is incredible! 😳🤔🤓👍
ОтветитьGreat video, Tom. Your students are very lucky to have you! And we are lucky because you're sharing :)
Ответитьhow to avoid the reflection light on tv screen?
ОтветитьIf only you knew how much I've learned from your vlog. My friend is staring a talk show and this will guide her a lot
ОтветитьI see a lot of myself in you! I have youth theater program and I have put blood, sweat and tears into our current space and our previous space so I know the joy in seeing the children enjoy and grow in a space that you put love into! I loved this video and I love your studio. I'm sure by now it looks totally different. I am very interested in the lighting and sound aspects of everything. With everything online now we are switching gears to make it more of a studio since our audience will be virtual for now. I would love some tech tips!
