i just ordered the go version today. it really does suit backpackers and climbers and other weight conscious outdoors people. my only wish is that the cup were double-walled or that the maker would otherwise sell a thick insulator for the cup. coffee goes cold fast in the sierras, in winter. i hope the seller hears this and begins selling an insulator for the cup. accessories seem to be the maker's trend, so why not address the cup and make an extra buck to fill a need. or, let 3rd parties fill the void but why.

James need to get out more. As in, outdoors. As much as I respect his expertise, and love this channel, uh I think he's bordering on obsessiveness about "the cup". It ain't about the cup. I have an Aeropress and an Aeropress Go. Most hotel coffee is dreck. You're almost NEVER going to get a proper drinking cup in a hotel room, usually paper or - heaven forfend! - styrofoam. I pre-grind my coffee before leaving home, place it in a zip loc bag, which fits inside the plunger, so I don't need to carry a grinder. So, what's the problem, James? The Go is a great product. It's NOT a "narrow use case".

Great for backpackers or day hikers. II gave my original aeropress to my son because it was too clunky to travel with.

Love your videos, but you seem to miss the point a little here. We're avid hikers, campers, travellers. Remote places where there often isn't a cup in sight, a coffee shop in miles & beans are hard to source. We love this device as when you're carrying all your gear up a mountain of living out aof a suitcase, at a some, every gram counts. Also, the conceniance of having the device completely self contained, no losing bits. We used to use instant coffee & while there is a weight penalty to the Aeropress go, its worth it.

James seem like he never did any camping in his entire life. And would never do unless he can bring a grinder and 4 types of expensives expresso machine with him to test while he's doing the hike. C'mon this portable model seem fantastic and it's perfect that everything fit in the cup.

Currently on a standard aeropress and a 1zpresso q2, which fits perfectly into the hollow tube. Whenever i have work where I know they have sh*t coffee, i weigh and load my beans, but them into the grinder, the into the aeropress. Hot water and some sort of mug is usually available if the workplay offers coffee

The aeropress go doesn't really make it a whole more convenient, cause my grinder won't fit in that and also the decreased volume isnt great. The integrated cup doesn't help lots either since you still need to carry hot water to have coffee on the go.

For true on the go coffee, I would consider an Outin Nano

Ever try to use an Aeropress with the paper or styrofoam cups the hotels give you? That's why they give you cup with the travel model. Also a lot of campers and hikers just bring a water bladder or canteen and this saves them from bring a cup to brew in. Just saying...

seeing a lot of comments from business people and flight attendants and such. I'm a mountain girl myself and I purchased the aeropress go for hiking! I would grind my coffee right before so no problems with taking up more space with a grinder. Love that its compact AND no need to bring a cup up the mountain. I normally brew with my v60 but this is a great option for home brewing when visiting family over the holidays!

I have the original Aeropress in my RV and after using it a bit I bought the Go for use at work. I'm an airline pilot and after 28 years of drinking (reluctantly) airplane coffee I can now make my own cup in flight. Also great in the hotel rooms. Many hotel rooms only have styrofoam or paper cups. Need something to press into. Sometimes I use the cup, sometimes I don't, but I love that the cup and cap makes it a tightly contained little package. My baggage is very space constrained and having all the parts in one package is key, for me.

That your life and travels are such the the Aeropress Go doesn't make sense to you doesn't make you an idiot, though. You just don't get it.

I haven't got an Aeropress but recently bought an Aeropress Go. I needed one and really like it's simplicity, sometimes I don't have time to use my expresso machine. Eventhough I use it 90% of the time at home and maybe 5% on holiday or at work. I've bought the go because its just smaller. Takes up less space at home

James I have a question. I want to buy either the regular Aeropress original or Aeropress Go. Tell me honestly, is Go fitting for any other mug/glass? This is my only worry that the brim is not wide enough to out it on another glass. I know I will not be using their mug because I do not like it. So, is it OK to buy it and mounting it on any other mug? Or should I buy a regular Aeropress to feel comfortable? Your answer is appreciated by me. Thank you.

I think the thing with the cup is that the Go is so narrow that you're not assured you have the cup of the right lip diameter to fit it, so it needs a cup. This still brings down the total diameter of the Go, which means it now fits in more places.

Perhaps what eludes James' reckoning of the Go is that adventurers and Americans at large are a little more adept at making do with a crude implement if it means they get their brew in an adverse setting . So they probably won't mind the cup.

Ответить
@jasonmiddleweek1509
@jasonmiddleweek1509 - 11.08.2023 03:31

Just realised!!!! You can now use the plunger as a second cup if you are splitting the brew between two. You couldn't on the old one because the brim was so wide. I say this because I was gonna bring a GO on a trip with a friend and wondering about the second cup....

The heavy red silicon lid is rather useless though. They could have come up with a better design; either a second cup or a non-spill traveller mug arrangement. Also the paper holder keeps springing open and is hard to put an elastic band around because it is round. Something water tight would have been good as when you pack up the used and wet AP the papers can get damp.

Forget the spoon, forget the ubiquitous stirrer, forget the idea of carrying a coffee grinder, AeroPress should make a container that fits inside the press so one could carry their own pre-ground coffee, and voilà! You'd be all set, all that would be missing is hot water. I think this self-contained unit is a fantastic idea, no matter who you are.

Ответить
@Ruinwyn
@Ruinwyn - 06.08.2023 13:29

It tells a lot of his travelling that he thinks a grinder is necessary but a suitable cup is always available. Not every cup fits aeropress, and you can't press down on paper cup. And pre-ground coffee might not be as good, but it still beats instant or gas station coffee that has been sitting for an hour.

Honestly, a lot of hotel rooms provide you with only paper coffee cups that will crush under the Aeropress, so a cup is actually a pretty good idea. I don't need a grinder. I just buy ground coffee. I used to care about grinding my own coffee but I don't think the time and effort is worth it. But YES, I wish it was a little bigger, but I can see how that would require all new everything and nothing would be compatible.

Ответить
@mrdzin1209
@mrdzin1209 - 24.07.2023 17:52

I feel like all they had to do is making an accessory kit with: a cup with a lid that can fit your original Aeropress inside, a small spoon and a collapsible stirrer that it inside the Aeropress, and the small paper holder, and sell it for like maybe $10-$15. The whole thing would probably be 3cm taller than the Aeropress GO, which is nothing. Absolutely no need to make a tiny bit shorter Aeropress.

Just ordered the Go version to pair with my classic one. I'm not a hiker/traveler. Still want it kind of for collection, for additional accessories, also I appreciate smaller stronger portions of brewed coffee. For any chance I may be taking it with me while I'm away from home I can still value the "cup" not for exactly being a cup but for it being a box for the whole thing.
