I remember a Haz debate where some guy said material conditions are just an excuse for Marxists to cop out of pushing for revolution or reform because they can just claim the material conditions negate the possibility of revolution or change. I thought it was a pretty pathetic strawman but this guy showed me some "MLs" really do be like that.

Edit: Just finished this debate. This guy is such a weaselly little coward holy shit. I listened to him talk with someone else for two hours and have no idea what he actually believes; he just negates everything. He reminds me of the narrator from notes from underground, too busy drowning in nuance and subjectivity to actually hold a single belief.

This guy had a point actually

This guy's entire point is that communists shouldn't embrace literally anything which gives them power. It's straight from the CIA handbook. Don't embrace the flag despite the vast majority identifying as Americans because a minority doesn't identify that way (despite benefitting from capitalism as imperial core citizens, making it a purely aesthetic distinction). Don't use electoral politics because communists should be completely powerless when the contradiction manifests, so the libs can claim the power in the vacuum. Communists shouldn't have support of the military because communists should let the libs control the monopoly of violence. He just wants communists to reject literally everything which grants power because power can be corrupted. He wants to stand by while evil claims the power.

The reality is shaming and defeating their scinisism and in the end popular momentum will drag the narcissistic lazy liberals along for the revolution, the patriotic spirit will quickly bear fruit with such an individual when he sees results but he will not be a true revolutionary on his own initiative, someone needs to lead such a person and turn him into a man and a valuable useful person and in so doing you will cause his own self image and worth to grow.
