It’s not hard to improvise when you work on that skill. You lock into a groove and you know your instrument, it’s a feel and intuition.

Flawless. Now can anyone explain the thumb? Sounds like he is using a pick but if so, how is he not dropping the pick with all that thumb flexing? Another mystery of Guthrie’s magic.

Interesting how he doesn't use his pinky for the main playing, only for certain extensions. i've tried to continue to build that strength, i wonder if Guthrie actively does this or it's simply the way the song played out.

Ahh. This is stupid. Is so effortlessly done. How long must I take to do what he did. I can occasionally do some bends he did. But that's where I get stuck and breaks flow. How did he manage to keep the flow and fluidity in the tone after so many additions. Blows my mind.
