What terrible reasoning. Someone said this thing, therefore it must be true. How does anyone take this as evidence?

Several problems with Paul's claim of 500 witnesses:
First, Paul was not one of those witnesses, so he is repeating a claim that someone else told him.
Second, he never names a single one of these supposed witnesses. How could someone 'go and ask them' - wander around Jerusalem and ask every person on the street if they are one of the witnesses?
Third, this letter was sent to a church over 1000 km from Jerusalem - an insurmountable distance for anyone wanting to verify this claim, even if they had the names of these 'witnesses.'
Most NT scholars also accept that Paul was not advancing an actual claim, but simply repeating a creed circulating through the community.

If I told you that 500 people saw the risen Elvis, in Istanbul, and you should go and ask them if you doubted, you'd laugh in my face, or call for mental health assistance. This claim is equally silly and/or crzy.

The simplest explanation for the disappearance of Jesus' body from the tomb, and subsequent sightings of a "live" Jesus, is that he didn't die on the cross. He probably went around to assure he followers he was well, and then disappeared to prevent Roman authorities from catching up with him. This turned into "rising from the dead" and "ascension into heaven."
I actually had myths grow up around me during my service in the military. They were stories alleging "facts" about actions that never happened, but apparently some people wanted to believe them. These stories almost certainly first arose from people who had actually known me, and knew that the stories they were telling were not true. (FYI, the stories were very positive, they just happened to be false.)

I regard these stories not as straightforward events that you could capture on video. Rather, using the language of time and space, they seek to express something on the edge of the ineffable, namely, the mystery of Christ’s continuing presence in the lives of Christian as both companion and lord.

At an early age I decided to become a pastor not that I experienced anything. Now at 58 have had several encounters, but people can't believe them if shared. Jesus is real unless one's heart has been hardened.

People in those days were not surprised that 'hero's' walked among the living before they rose to 'heaven'.
It was a literary trope in Hellenistic literature. The translation fable was a typical mark of storytelling about hero's.
They faced adversity, a horrible death and rose from the dead to walk among the living before they exhalted to heaven.
Many hero's like Alexander the Great, Roman Emperors, etcetera, were all seen, by witnesses, to have risen.

People didn't ask themselves wether resurrection really happened or not. They expected no less that their hero's performed miracles, had divine powers, were resurrected, etcetera.
In that sense, the gospels don't differ from any contemporary hero tale. It followed the same literary form and used the same tropes.

In any case, that's no proof Jesus was factually resurrected.

Wow. In a "First Things" article, Wright says something a little different, perhaps given a different audience. As I recall it, he says that it is faith and love that "believe" in these things, ie, the Resurrection. (So, "history" is not the "evidence"; the historical accounts are not reliable.) It left me the impression that He did not literally rise; but rather, the key thing is that we BELIEVE that "something happened."

You missed the key point in 1st Corinthians 15. Paul never saw an actual Jesus/physical Jesus. Paul came after crucifixion and resurrection (possibly…some say that the gospel of Mark was Paul influenced).
If Paul never saw a physical Jesus he must be referring to his Damascus experience (blinded by light) or his reference to the third heaven. Either way he’s referring to an awakening/spiritual experience.

The resurrection should be interpreted spiritually - Christ is resurrected in His real body, namely His church. Therefore he said "break down this temple and in 3 days I will raise it up again". 3 days are the water(God's word), the Blood(God's works) and the Spirit(God's truth and attitude). These are the processes before Christ is resurrected in us.

Jesus was a guy but I don't believe he was the messiah. I think priests and government officials came together and decided to make a religion around him in order to install values into people that they all agreed upon. it had to basically be the sequel to Judaism because that was what most people believed in. There were religions that predate Christianity that talk about a guy being born dying and coming back all on exactly the same dates as Jesus which whoever wrote the bible took obvious inspiration from. I'm open minded and if evidence comes to light that Christianity is actually true then fair enough but on the contrary I can't see it even lasting much longer.

OK, so he rose. What was his trajectory? Did he zip by Saturn on his way & check out the rings? Did he kick in warp drive so he could pass 10 billion galaxies in the wink of an eye? Or did he simply disintegrate himself once he was out of human sight: "Show's over. Time to get back to immaterial being."

In Romans 4, Paul recounts Abraham's example of putting faith in God's promise to him and that his faith ,as demonstrated by his actions, was accounted to him as righteousness.(vs3) Paul concludes there by saying that we too can be counted righteous because we believe or put faith in Him who raised Jesus our Lord up from the dead. So what is the benefit of this faith ? Jesus himself explained that at John 3.16 ...a resurrection back to life that can last forever. As 2Peter3.13 says:"But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to His promise and in these righteousness is to dwell ." 2Cor15.20to23

Latest cern data suggests up to 11 Dimensions exist. We see 3 and ancient scripture analysis suggests 10 dimensions. Denying the complexities and precision of the machines inside a cell to the vast, unfathomable distance of space and the perfection of planetary placement, is a ignorant statement!😊 Created things need a creator, the more science I learn, the more I’m a Believer in GOD Almighty and Jesus the Son, Christ, and Redeemer.

Physical ressurrection of the body of JESUS was not possible because it was very badly treated by the romans.
Once over a certain level of harm, it is not possible to get back (there are rules on Nature and Heaven obeys its own rules).
Don't you think it is strange that everybody that JESUS reached wouldn't recognize him immediatly....? How could that be, if it was His own body, that they knew so well ....
It wasn't.....
It was His astral body that is very similar to the physical one, but not an exact copy.
The physical body was taken away to a subterranean place nearby and is still there by today, so that no one would be able to do crayzy phanatical things humans would do if they found the physical body of JESUS.
Once killed (worst crime commited by Humanity), He couldn't come back physicaly, but only through astral body that is not affected by physical weapons.
That was the means He used to keep in contact with followers.

Even He, could not return to Heaven immediatly, because there are certain protocols and preparations for it, that's why it was not the right time to get back to Heaven. A terrible crime has been commited and the return was not immediate.
Anyone trying to push the physical ressuraction theory will be lying....I don't recomend it.....and its not a big deal.....His message was.....

The women were not the first to see the so called resurrected Jesus. According to the myth they saw an empty tomb, and according to the original story in the book (later called Mark) they saw an empty tomb and went away and told nobody. Also there were not 500 witnesses, there was one man saying there were. That is not the same. If a lawyer told a judge he has 500 witnesses but brought none, he has none.

The question is oft tangent. The correct and urgent question is, is the Lord Jesus real today at this modern times? Even you say it is historical fact, or ancient fiction, it is still questionable. Professors, theologians, priests or Rabbis could say many things about the Lord Jesus but the question is how could you personally sense Him? Is it difficult for Him to show himself personally and actually? It is not enough to read the Biblical verses and to have faith. Are there requirements to personally see Him? Why talk about Daniel Bonevac of many things about him. Why not personally talk to him?
