Right up there with best vids…. Super cool. I’ve never been steep and deep. And too old too try now….but is the snow up there kinda crunchy?

Chamonix looks incredible. Hope to go before I'm too old to enjoy it.

I love reading about the deaths in Alps each season. Every local I spoke with has a story about someone in their family/friends dying. I think I find it the most gratifying reading about the visitors who die. The year I was there in 2017, from August through September, at least 5 deaths occurred just for climbers. Local guides say that the average is 60 deaths per year. That seems a little high, but it is an average.

Unlike in America where everyone you meet in the ‘mountain towns’ is a flatland transplant, in the alps you get real locals working on the mountains.

Narcissistic attitudes from some of them. Took the polish off the fabulous skiing ability.

Reminiscent of the Blizzard of Ahhhs from 1988, but Plake, Schmidt, & Hattrup did it on skinny 210cm boards! Everything became "extreme" after that film.

If you've not skied the Chamonix valley you'd better do it soon.

I first skied there 35yrs ago and the snowfall and levels now are nothing compared to then.

In another 20yrs skiing in Chamonix will be nothing but a distant memory.
