UPDATE - DEC 18/18 - Sony has released new firmware (v2.10) for the a7 III & a7R III that "Solves the problem caused by a specific third-party memory card, which would not be recognised by Sony cameras." I know that some of you had problems with the SanDisk cards in your Sony, so hopefully this update will fix it. Please post your results if it does/doesn't. 🤞
ОтветитьDoes the 2 line chip you showed help when you need faster buffer ? Thanks
ОтветитьI have two of those 64GB V30 UHS-I 95mb/s that I have used on my A7II and now are moveing over to A7 III, for video and photo. But what about If I'm gonna make fast continious shooting and don't want to hit the buffer or have to wait long for It to clear, should I get one UHS-II for the UHS-II slot with higher mb/s speed, Up to 170 or 270mb/s speed?
ОтветитьThis cleared up so much for me in such a short time. As someone who just got the S5IIX, I would really like to see this updated for the 10bit full frame gen of cameras 😂
Thanks as always, Gerald!
Later civilizations that will find SD cards in our ruins will never figure out these cryptic symbols
ОтветитьThnx ❤
ОтветитьThis explains everything I needed to know, thank you
ОтветитьSo do this do anything for video like do it look any different?
ОтветитьWOW thank you sooooo much for this video I was sooooo lost before seeing this could you do a video on Capture cards like WOW I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong with mine I cannot make videos to save my life terrible 😔
ОтветитьTHANK YOU, super helpful and i learned heaps
ОтветитьThis is good. I was wondering if the V30 was good enough for the GH5's 200 Mbs 6k anamorphic for an extended recording (to crop in post)
ОтветитьGreat information! I know this video is 4 years old but it’s still relevant today. Yet maybe an update might be in order?
ОтветитьHi , I am trying to buy a SD card compatible for my Pioneer AVH X8800BT to play video clips in car like your does but the SD card I bought its not compatible , I think I bought one with to much memory (256GB) , what SD card are you using ? thank you
ОтветитьThank you for getting straight to the point! This helps a lot :)
ОтветитьThank you bro
ОтветитьExcellent video with great information...
ОтветитьI'm watching in 2022, and still relevant
ОтветитьNice, thanks a lot :)
Ответитьi bought tough M 128gb sd card (uhs II v60 277mb/150mb)but it can't afford 4K 25p 100Mb footage with Sony a7c!!! What do you recommend ? Danke..
ОтветитьI loved this! Perfectly explained..."hit the dislike button TWICE!"🤣👍🏻
ОтветитьI regularly return here whenever I'm about to buy a new sd card. Thanks for the great content!
ОтветитьThank you very much!
Ответитьnice
ОтветитьVery informative thanks for the breakdown in knowing the speeds.
ОтветитьThank you so much! I was trying to figure out which card would go with the camcorder that I just bought. The description read: Max 128 GB Class 10. Wellllll, what does that mean exactly and how am I to know which one to choose? Sooooo, I watched several video's about these card, by several different people. You made the distinction between the SD cards clear and understandable. Why can't they all be like you? I chose an SD card that is 128 GB, 150 MB/s, V30, 3 in the U, and C 10 (class 10), so I can start to make video's that might go over an hour, so not the 64 GB SD card. Whew! That's out of the way. Thanks again!
ОтветитьVery Helpful, thank you so much! I often need refreshers on SD cards etc. All I need to do is be capable of recording 4K at 60 fps. Since the higher speed-rated cards are double the price, I'm going to be ok with a SD that is rated C10, 128 GB Capacity, SDXC V30 I, I don't care about the download speeds once back at the editing station, so at 170 MBs, I'm fine with that. Thank you, all great information well presented.
ОтветитьYour content is sufficient and perfect! There are a 100 videos out there telling which card they recommend(which might also be sponsored). Your video here just tells how to interpret any card and take a decision ourselves! All your other content tries to do the same and I totally vouch for such stuff! Your channel is my favorite amongst all! Thanks for taking the effort.
Ответитьi hate how the a7iii only support 1 slot with UHSii.....
bascially makes it useless if i am using backup mode, coz the overall speed will just be USHi even if i put 2 UHS ii card into it.
hey gerald what memory card i need to record 4K 60 in new Sony A7 IV ?
ОтветитьDoes the Sony A7Riii need a SDXC 2 to record 4k video?
Ответитьcan you update this video for 2022? thanks!
ОтветитьVery nicely explained!!! Thanks.
ОтветитьHi , I bought a used Panasonic lumix dmc fz 100 ...but no manual information...I want memory card I can video about 1 1/2 hours of video footage......please help 🤔.
ОтветитьThis was such a helpful video. Thank you!
ОтветитьThank you very much, is SD V30 (256 gb, up to 170 mb) good for shooting at 30,60,120 fps with Sony fx3 camera?
ОтветитьI really love your contents, You are highly professional, direct and funny.
ОтветитьToday I shot a 10 minute video 4k 30p. 3.1 GB total. It was two files. 5 minutes each. Why not one single file? Is it because of the camera? Olympus mirrorless em10 mark 3 or the card? Toshiba Exceria Pro 128 Gb SDXC uhs I c10 U3 95/75 mbs per second. No v30. Toshiba cards are nice and this card is perfectly fine for 4k 30p. But why two files on xc? Side note: it took 115 seconds to transfer 3.1 GB to the lap top. No card reader. Just the slot
ОтветитьUHS I is not the the basic level on SD cards but something new that was introduced later. While C10 and U1 designate the same speed it is different on how it is implemented technically. To my knowledge UHS was specified in 2010.
You can format SDHC cards to ExFAT with Windows. You must not then reformat on the camera or it will set it back to FAT32 so one can use old cards. Buying new 32 GB cards makes no sense anyway.
Thanka mate :)
ОтветитьVery helpful! Thank you!
Ответитьgreat video thanks ! thought i had to buy a uhs 2 card for my lumix s5 ... turns out i probably dont right ??
ОтветитьGreat video but why not to use cheaper Sandisk Extreme 150mb/s instead Sandisk Extreme PRO 95mb/s? Both will handle 4K from a7iii right? Thanks!
ОтветитьPerfect video boss! Appreciate your help with this!
ОтветитьTHANK YOU FOR THIS
ОтветитьMan this is just bullshit. Sorry I have to say it. I have over 12 cards laying around the house that can't be used in certain things and just wasted money it's efen ridiculously stupid. Just put the fucking name on the shit.
ОтветитьWould a faster card improve burst shooting performance? I have a ZV1 and sandisk extreme card and was wondering if the extreme pro would improve the buffer writing speed on the card.
ОтветитьHi Gerald, I know this is late to the game, but I haven't been able to find definitive info on using the GH5 in anamorphic mode. Theoretically, the Sandisk v30 card should work for 6k anamorphic at 30fps (200mbs), but some out there seem to think at least a v90 card is required.
ОтветитьInformative and understandable. Thanks
ОтветитьTime for updating this video?
