Mixed Media Collage Tutorial - Mixed Media Techniques

Thank you Sandra, I have painted my own paper and prefer watercolor or gouache. Sometimes, when I use the paper with a mat or gloss medium over the paper for collage, it smears the painted paper. What is the best product to use on top of painted paper to keep this from happening? Am I making sense?

I’m really enjoying all of your videos Sandra. I can’t adopt the gloves though as I love being able to feel the mediums I’m working with, plus I don’t mind painty, inky fingers afterwards 🤪❤️✨. I will use artguard though which helps to wash the paint and ink off easily. I’m an absolute mess though afterwards and will wear an apron as I have ruined many many items of clothing 😂😂😂

Being a rather new collage artist (from another practice) I've watched every darn video available. I can say without hesitation that I learn more tips from you than any other channel. The tip of using a knife instead of a brush when spreading medium was very valuable! You also helped solve the issue of my deli paper wrinkling. I hope your content gets a wider view.

I have just found your station here and subscribed. Thank you for clarifying the different uses of mediums when using different types of papers. It has helped a lot since I’ve only been working with them over the last year in an altered book/ art journal. I’ve noticed I get some bubbles at times in my projects. Not sure why or if I’m not using enough gel. I’m able to smooth them out but not always. I learned something new from you about the pallet knife for applying gels vs the brush. Thank you so much.

Yet another great video! I notice you are using Gell “gloss”. Does it dry glossy and the rest of your project looks matte?

I'm new to your station. I was wondering why you wouldn't use Mod Podge; especially for smaller works. It's much cheaper in price and has a clear finish as well 😁

What type of brush do you use for the gloss gel?

I'm a little confused.... what's the difference between gloss medium and regular gel gloss?

Sandra, sometimes I use freezer wrap paper for my palette. Considering the waxy coating on one side of that paper... would it adhere similarly to deli paper? If I tried to use it, would you suggest using the lighter gel medium? Thanks!

I would love to see you using a texture gel such as blended fibers gel or glass bead gel

in what circumstances would you use a PVA adhesive in collage?
And are there weight limits to that adhesive?
And in terms of spraying home-made painted papers,
would you use Krylon workable fixatif and if not what would you use,
as there are so many different kinds of Krylon sprays.
