ОтветитьOk this blows my mind. I have been pursuing an acting career for three decades and live in Los Ángeles. The struggle is super real. Drop off, workshops, mailers, classes, networking events, headshots galore, reels, sites, self submitting, managers, agents, still don't have this success. In 2020 went to coding boot camp cause was tired of being broke and needed new actor survival job. Been miserable and depressed cause it's not acting. Had a baby 10 months ago and is also when I stopped my software engineer work but now desperate to work again. Don't want to code, want to act. Here watching your channel trying to demystify what the heck I need to do differently cause 30 years is a long time to want it and have very little success. Ready for things to change. Of course there is a strike but really need to figure this out cause it's still my dream and I'm trying not to be bitter about how easy it was for others. Very frustrated and really want to make my dreams come true.
ОтветитьVery inspiring Friend.
ОтветитьDon't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Hi I have a question when you get a acting agency’s do you have to be in the same country as that agency so if it was a New York one do you have to be in America or New York?
ОтветитьWow, small world, I just signed up for classes at the Houde school!
ОтветитьSuch an inspiring story ❤ you get an agent so quickly! I have friends who finished 5 year acting university and have troubles finding an agent
ОтветитьIs 48 too late to start acting?
ОтветитьWhere do you recommend taking acting classes in Atlanta? I am here also! I have gone to audits at Alliance Theater, Greg Alan Actor's Workshop Studio, and Professional Actor's Studio on Piedmont Rd. Do you attend one of these? If not, where are great classes to take? Thank you!
ОтветитьIs starting as an background actor a good idea to start my future acting career as a professional?
Ответитьdoesn't this feel like we are preparing ourselves to graduate high school all over again is like senior year XD
Ответитьgood luck everyone i cheer and support your journey one who is reading it now.
hope to see you in big screen soon
for me it was my dream since i was a kid came to japan got enrolled in acting and talent colz paid up to $20000 just for a dream with overwork😢😢😢.
now i am near 30 and realized i came to wrong place there is no chance to get even small roles here in japan.
now im confused 😢 should i go to acting school in usa again and audition but that is another loss of money.
i have sucesfully become a salary man here but still i am not able to give up on my dream😢😢
it is heartbreaking to have big dreams when you are from a poor family .
after 7 years of working as PT, and 2 acting courses that I took as hobby, 2023 - let’s go full in on acting 😅 in 3 weeks - 2 auditions, got 1 job (couldn’t take because travel) did pro headshots and applied for 50+ roles. Maybe I didn’t try hard enough before 😬
ОтветитьIs it possible to show a clip of a production that you were in or would it not be allowed?
ОтветитьDid you have to pay your agent when they first signed you?
ОтветитьIm an electrical engineer planning to take acting classes for fun while working full time 👀👀
ОтветитьSir i am from foreign country i am still 19 year old, my dream and even my desire to become a Hollywood actor. In the next 3 years i am coming into the US.
I want to work part time and invest these money on my acting and become a professional Hollywood actor.
Sir what your advise, leave them in this comment replay.
Great story sir
ОтветитьI’ve never appreciated living near Atlanta more
ОтветитьLike I said in one of your other videos; I’m from Ohio and I still currently live here and theirs really nothing going on with the film production industry around Ohio especially around Zanesville Ohio: it’s like walking into a ghost town, I need to be in your shoes but I just don’t know where to start honestly because I want this career it would be my passion to pursue something like this. I don’t mind working a regular job but I just don’t see myself doing the same job for the rest of my life I would rather follow out a job that I’m passionate about and to get to know people more…I’t would be a dream ; I’m 20 as of this year and I’m working at a job that I don’t like I’m making good money but I just don’t like the job it’s just not for me, when I get their I just don’t feel the excitement of getting something done like I would acting out on a small film or a Tv set or in general just in front of people I really like to entertain people and I can’t do that at a normal work place; life is really dull if you don’t go for what you’re passionate about I’m really starting to understand that so I was going to search for some acting classes near me or save up money for a couple years or so and take off to go to a known acting school; I’m going to give it my all on this career I need it.
ОтветитьI worked 22 years as a Firefighter/Paramedic, retired at 48, ( I had real estate investments), took an Improv class on a lark, 2 years later doing show, then student films. Now I'm in LA and have Guest Starred on Criminal Minds, NCIS, MacGyver, and more. We all have different paths to this job.

ОтветитьThis is inspiring mate,👍
ОтветитьIt's so interesting hearing this story. I'm only just now getting serious about acting and taking lessons but for the past four years I've worked in BG and stand in work. My main job is working in IT for a large investment company and had to call in sick and take vacation for fittings and to work on set. It's interesting hearing that someone went through those same battles with their main job
ОтветитьDo you think I can go to school for nursing and still be a actor because I always wanted to be the one
Ответитьhaha, fellow Clevelander. I just signed up at Houde recently, something else that I found your videos at the same time. Hmm, coincidence? I think not! Totally signs.
ОтветитьGood day sir
My name is Elizabeth
I'm 14 years old and I really want to be an actress but today my family friend told me that he's not seeing it in me. That if it was a dj I wanted to be he would be supportive because he knows I love music then he said I should practice but I'm just confused because first what he said got me weak and secondly I really don't know what to practice sir
And that's why I'm here, sir could you please tell me what to do and what to practice to convince him that I really want to be an actress and I will be.
Great contents Kurt…🤝🏼
ОтветитьIs 43 year old too late to learn acting? I just signed up for my first acting class. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьTotal nerd haha
ОтветитьKurt, Great video. I live in Seattle and want to take acting classes. Can you recommend someone for me? I'm 13 tears old. Thanks, Emmy
ОтветитьWhat happened to your friend? 😂
ОтветитьGreat content, recently read that many actors are doing "the method" way of acting, which basically means they go into character non-stop to perform better in leading roles, what is your thought on this ? I have heard lead actors and even actors with smaller screen time tend to end up exhausted and do not think physiologically it would be good to remain in character while on break or lunch. Also if actors do their own stunts, it is common to end up with injuries no matter how safe a production might seem to be.
ОтветитьHi Kurt do you have Instagram or where could we text you? Thank you so much for doing this :)
ОтветитьThis helped me a lot man thank u🙏🏿
ОтветитьI am 28 and I am starting acting classes in a week. My part time/full time job doesn't pay much. Though I am still trying to get started. I have also been trying to look at a different job to support my passion. I look forward to it, though I am a little scared that I am quite behind on a lot of things.
ОтветитьHey Kurt! What is the difference between Lead, principal, and supporting role?
Ответитьby sharing the photo of you in your cubicle in 2008, I think you're the same age as me (+/-1/2 years) haha. and suddenly now in 2022 I decided to take your same path (we have kinda similar path, I studied computer science as well, and now economic in late 30s). your video started pumping up and I think it's a sign for me!
ОтветитьI also had a whole other career and was a scientist. Its nice to know we can start later in life : )
ОтветитьThankyou very much sir for opened up my eyes in the acting career. Iam 24 now and i had studied for a very different career even iam not interested. I have so much interest in acting but i am afraid to take a career change because i am confused whether iam taking the right choice. This video really changed my vision. 💯
ОтветитьWoo it been two years
ОтветитьThank you SO MUCH NOW I KNOW I STILL HAVE HOPE
ОтветитьWho is your agent?
ОтветитьHi Kurt! This video is so encouraging because I took some of the same steps as you especially making the difficult decision to leave my job due to the fact that it tied up so much of my time. Anyway, I was wondering about when you moved to ATL and had multiple auditions in a week, were you still using the same agent you used in Cleveland or did you have to start over with searching for auditions yourself and then finding an agent based in ATL? I'm in NYC so I know this is a good place to cast my net but things are moving pretty slow. Also, I'm curious to any recommendations for side hustles that don't involve waitressing lol.
ОтветитьHow I’m starting my career I’m going to start auditioning for commercial and see we’re it goes
