Thanks for watching! As always, let us know what aircraft you want to hear about next. Later this month, Liam Shaw will be showing you inside the cockpit of the Mk 1 Spitfire, N3200 so stay tuned for that!
ОтветитьEu amo o spitfire ? 👍🇧🇷
ОтветитьThanks for this. A friend of mine his Dad was a Kiwi Spitfire pilot and fighter ace in WW2 his name was Flt Lt David Livingstone... we have Spitfire warbirds here in NZ.. cheers from down under 👍🇳🇿✈️
ОтветитьA beautiful plane.
Ответить"For the next important and powerful Merlin 66 engine, Rolls Royce finally decided to use the Bendix–Stromberg Injection carburettor. The American Bendix-Stromberg pressure carburettor was developed in the mid 1930’s and was in production from 1938. This carburettor was designed to operate as a fully pressurised fuel system that dispensed with the problematic float controlled fuel level with its emulsion tubes and diffusers. Negative G had no effect on fuel flow or carburettor function. The pressurised and metered fuel flow was delivered as a spray into the inlet air stream just in front of the supercharger inlet. This feature virtually removed the risk of carburettor icing, in fact the throttles and chokes of the injection carburettor did not need heating by hot oil or coolant circulation at all and their deletion removed several other problems associated with the previous provision of those heating circuits."

Wasn’t the wing a stolen idea from Germany?
ОтветитьGreat video 🎉
ОтветитьMy dad trained in little Norway Ontario Canada on the Spitfire. Went to England to in 1943 to continue flying. My mom was in the Royal Air force during the battle of Britain. Bad times brought them together. So many lives lost and destroyed.
ОтветитьAmazing BUT, look where we are NOW! In a communist type of country... well done, to those lads, and lasses', that flew them!! UK? RIP!!
ОтветитьLeft rudder trim on takeoff in the Mk XXIV? Maybe some aileron trim? Takeoffs at 75% throttle? Just speculating wildly here but without knowing anything else, the torque of that monstrous engine makes me nervous.
ОтветитьI find the earlier variants of the allied fighters with canopies that taper into the dorsal faring to the vertical more visually appealing than the better performing higher horsepower/performing variants with bubble canopies. For instance i think the Hawker Hurricanes, P-40s, P-47 razorbacks and the P-51C and earlier. The P-38 and the Mosquito are the most attractive twin engine aircraft in the war.
ОтветитьBeing a prop guy, I love the 5 bladers.
ОтветитьWish the P-51s could've had the Griffin.
ОтветитьThe Griffin is my favorite Rolls engine.
Ответить😮absolutely beautiful aeroplanes thanks for sharing the video ❤
ОтветитьIo mi sono rotto i coglioni di dover aspettare comodi di tutti oggi niente devo aspettare comodi tutti domani se no dopodomani ne ho orkite di tutto maximus
ОтветитьIt took a long time for the Americans to bite the bullet (and their pride) to accept the beautiful partnership between the Merlin and P-51.
ОтветитьNo way the Mk 9 Spitfire was as good as the P51D model. The Mustang (D model) outperformed the Spitfire by every objective measure that counts. The Spitfire does hold the distinction of being one of, if not the most beautiful airframe ever produced.
ОтветитьIn a war between fascists, some of the fascists won and the other fascists lost. Had both of those fascists been bombed to smithereens, they might've both become a bit better and we'd probably have less assholes.
ОтветитьDid the planes just change themselves by themselves over time? No. People worked on them. It is called INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
ОтветитьBut not as good as the P-51
ОтветитьThe white Spitfire in the thumbnail is so beautiful
ОтветитьI work near Abiingdon, UK and I would say that pretty much weekly a lone Spitfire flies over, I can only presume there's one based in the area, or I'm on a regular cross-country route. I can hear the sound when I'm in my office and whenever possible, I leg it out to watch it pass - hairs up on the arm stuff.
ОтветитьVery interesting had no idea about all the changes and models really enjoyed
ОтветитьThe V RF-M and the XI WX-F, are both Polish birds from 303 Kościuszkowski and 302 Poznański. Duxford Museum - thank you for remembering.
ОтветитьCancellation of the Spitfire project was always the best modification of this Reconnaissance aircraft design 👌
ОтветитьRJ Mitchel designed the S4, S5, S6/S6B aircraft that finally won the Schneider Trophy for Great Britain in 1931. Oddly enough, those aircraft looked very much like the Spitfire. I have read that those Spitfires with shortened wings were referred to as 'clipped, cropped and clamped' and used as fast photo aircraft. No doubt the Spitfire was the best we had but those pilots who flew lesser planes knowing their chances of living were lower were very special men indeed., i.e. the Hurricane.
ОтветитьShrew. As if!
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьThankssssssssssssssssss
ОтветитьA "bucket list" destination for every man that read Commando mags as a lad .
I was given a brilliant tour of the MK14 by one of the restorers , he allowed me behind the ropes one rainy and quiet saturday afternoon to see the griffin engine , which i had never seen before , i got to go up some ladders and peer over the exposed workings , it was amazing how in that era , in a war , the engine builders could come up with such a beast.
Its a day that stands alongside my first xxxx in good memories of the past.
A whole lot of Polish insignia right there
Ответить"Between Spitfires and Hurricanes, they KNOCKED ALL HELL OUT OF THE NAZIS!"
ОтветитьWhy do historical brits are so exaggerated? The other day I heard Monty saying he never lost a battle and this gentilman here says Germas conceded it was the better plane. It's scary to think what other parts of the "official" history are wrong.
ОтветитьLucky to see a flight of 6 Spitfires at an airshow in the UK. The most beautiful machine in the air or anywhere!
ОтветитьThe most beautiful the most iconic variant the Spitfire Mki
ОтветитьShe started as a 5 and ended up as a 9.
That's impressive....

ОтветитьI really think the Mosquito was a more worthy design! The Spitfire was epic yes, but what the Mozzie became and did was on another level.
ОтветитьSending a like from AR, USA!!
ОтветитьI have a photograph of my dads squadron pilots, some of them standing on the wings of a spitfire while based in Malta during WW2. He is standing beside the spit & frankly looking a tad unhappy. When i asked him about why he looked a bit annoyed he said, "it was my bloody spitfire".
ОтветитьThe spitfire was the perfect fighter for the protection of the British skies however the p 51 mustang with the Merlin engine was more responsible for defeating the luftwaffe in the western theater and creating air superiority for the western Allies in WW2 so the mustang actually is the more impactful fighter plane ✈️
ОтветитьThe spitfire as far as eye 👁️ appeal is not a better looking fighter plane than the mustang, focke wolf 190 , or even the Japanese zero , I always thought the fat rounded wing was not as appealing as the wings of these other planes, great fighter though that served its purpose
ОтветитьBrits have a sick fascination about their Spitfire.
ОтветитьI think it is time for a Spitfire / Battle of Britain mini series, or real long movie.
ОтветитьI thought the Mk1 had eight .303 machine guns, the 20 MM cannon wasn't introduced until the Mk2.
Ответитьyes I like spitfire
ОтветитьКак всегда, отличная работа
ОтветитьSpitfire -> Mustang about equal as far as I am concerned.
