I absolutely loved this mindful yoga. I love being reminded about my breath! I just started working out about a month ago and just the last few days I’ve been really connecting with my breath and breathing into the pain and I’m finding it so fucking amazing. It’s like next level shit really ❤️

As an ex-ballet dancer, this was what I needed.

I started ballet late, at the age of thirteen turning fourteen. It was my dream to become a principal dancer, I worked so hard every day.

I would do at the very least two hours of stretching (I once sat in a split for twenty eight minutes, I highly do not recommend doing that) I would literally train at the bar for seven hours.

I quickly became the most flexible girl in my studio, I saw vast improvements. My wonderful teacher was preparing me for pointe. I then got invited to an audition in my country’s most prestigious ballet academy. I danced there en pointe.
Believe it or not this was all happening under a year.

However to my dismay, I had no choice but to quit. Due to several health concerns. I stopped menstruating, my hair began falling out, my nails were brittle, my skin was ghostly pale, I lost too much weight in such a short time, my school counselor even asked me if I was anorexic.

At that moment I also injured both of my feet, especially my left foot. So I stopped dancing for a month, yet I still attended lessons and took notes.

It was depressing for me, not being able to dance, seeing how the girls in my class were advancing. I recall feeling so feeble, I cried looking at them. Performing/attempting new combinations, exceeding in class, rehearsing our variations.

I then asked my mother if she could sign me up for horseback riding lessons, she happily agreed.

I much more enjoy horses than ballet, the feeling is immaculate! I’ve always adored animals, I grew up with them.

When I was a toddler we had a Jack Russell terrier, alongside eight parakeets. Then when me and my mother moved to New Zealand we had ducks living in our garden, I remember them chasing me around like dogs (probably because I was the one feeding them), me and mother made baths for the little ducklings, I still remember my favorite ducks name- kraka. Mother then purchased me a Rat, I named him Magnum, we also had a bunny. I also had two frogs. As time passed we eventually returned, with that we had adopted eight cats (we aren’t insane, no need to jump to conclusions) and two dogs, a Pomeranian called Daisy and a little long coated Chihuahua Gizmo.

So yeah, I have now found my new obsession which is horseback riding!

Ballet was not only unhealthy for me physically but also mentally. Constantly worrying about competition, expectations, purchasing new pointe shoes, neglecting my education for ballet, having no social life, having no time for myself, literally dedicating/signing away my whole life in order to pursue ballet.

I am so glad that I soon after starting horseback riding, made the decision to cut ties with ballet for good.

I am currently recovering, about four months passed since. I am moving with my family to the north, to a lovely provenance. There I will be riding much more frequently, studying at a superb high school which is centered around science (biology is my most beloved subject). I am beyond excited, I am also seeing major improvements in my health.

Although it’s been challenging for me, I have gained some weight. I know that it’s detrimental for me to do so, as I want to have a family of my own in the future. I too of course cherish my health!

I remember when I was still dancing I also did Pilates on the side, and I was doing it until now (it’s still essential for me to be in proper shape, as it is important for a rider).

This was my first time trying Yoga, and let me tell you. You just opened up for me an entirely new world! This is like therapy, horses too bring me such peace and calmness. I cannot elaborate on how much I genuinely loved this!

I started to despise Pilates, now I dropped it. Instead I go on hikes, long power walks (that I actually enjoy), and the occasional run (I too will be receiving a bicycle in the near future, once we move).

I know that I partially told my entire life so far in a nutshell, but what can I say? Yoga is now in my life thanks to this wonderful class! I truly needed this, thank you so so much! I truly appreciate this.

(I deeply apologize if some of my wording is grammatical incorrect, English isn’t my mother language. Nonetheless I am thankful for anyone who decides to read this somewhat lengthy comment of mine. Have a lovely day:)).

I love this flow. I use it as a benchmark. I am on the tail end of recovering from a jujitsu injury. After a year of PT and Yin Yoga I attempted this flow for the first time. I didn't last 15 minutes. I went about my business; PT, Yin, finally returning to jogging. I've checked in with this flow from time to time, always I was improving but it was always murder. Today I did the whole thing. I still have issues w/half moon and other of the more "athletic" postures but I am progressing. At the end I was able to calm my breathing without it being an impossible deal. I am very much looking forward to working with this flow further. Thank you so much for posting it.

Just 'reporting' from Philadelphia again. Wanted to thank you for actually providing real Vinyasa Flow. Philly is doing something a little strange and isn't teaching, in a way, actual vinyasa flow at the last studios remaining, meaning it's almost a mockery or a seeming experiment to see if people will stay or walk out of studios. Sorry to report icky news from the east over here, but it is really strange and I feel so privileged and honored to have developed my practice during, I guess what can be known as Philadelphia, PAs, golden yoga era....anything prior to 2020, I guess. It's never returned to normal here. In fact, it's a 'joke' sadly. It's like throwing up a beginner in the front of class and having him or her teach just to see what happens. Aaaacckkk. (I'm not being mean, I actually am wondering what could be going on here. Is it orchestrated for some reason or what have you?) 😥😥😞😞 hoping this does not begin happening elsewhere.
