Knack Doesn't Suck

i love knack

Knack's gameplay may have a slight incentive to strategize which enemy you choose to take out first in a location, however that doesn't mean much once you realise your success relies much less on an understanding of which enemies need to be killed first, and more so on complete random chance, as enemies have absolutely no pattern you can follow, no clearly defined area their attacks will hit within, and often times attacks that simply have to large an area of effect for you to be able to either dodge the attack, or attack them before they can land it. You are constantly hindered by the singular combo set you have, and with a dodge that has to be aimed in very specific directions to avoid attacks, that does not dodge very far, and that FUCKING FREEZES YOU IN PLACE, the combat becomes unbelievably unfair extremely quick. Knack is a cool character, and a cool concept for a game, one that the sequel developed MUCH better, however it fails to be truly enjoyable throughout the entire play time.

As soon as i read the title i was like "yeah it does". It did nothing new to gaming other than fancy graphics for the time. literally nothing but graphics gave the game its appeal. Crysis was wayyyyyyyy better than this for the time period it came out. but it wasn't just fancy graphics. it was fun and strategic gunplay. knack you just pretty much mash square the whole game. im glad i didnt pay money for this game.

This is obviously a fanboy who ignores all the true major bad parts (like a baffling story and terrible controls ), but then again, this needs a MauLer style video to talk about how god awful the game is

Btw when you hit right after dodge, your attack’s range gets longer and this is really useful for harder modes

I am playing through the game now and could not agree more with your assessment! The power ups in particular feel like classic beat-em-ups wave clears but in the modern era. Nothing like smashing the ground and killing everything in sight after saving up enough energy.

Ignoring tbe Dunkey memes Knack was fucking boring, writing was made for 2 year olds, enemies don't even fit into their environment, Knack is slow but has to walk over areas with empty space, and a high school student using Unity could make the particle physics when you die. Don't even get me started with the bland graphics.

I think people say it's repetitive not because of the viarity of animies, but because of viarity in combos and movies.

I love knack its fun I dont understand why people hated it

I feel like it just became a thing at a certain point to call 3D beat em ups platformer because when people think of a beat em up, they think of arcade titles with intricate button inputs.

I think the unpopular yet expensive skylanders would be a good comparison. Whenever any of the games do platforming, it slows the pace to a halt, compared to when your fighting enemies and your using all the abilities of your unique guy.

KNACK TWO BAYYYYBEEEEEEE

I remember much younger and this is one of the first games I got. I was so young at the time I thought this game was a complete masterpiece, and its oddly enough one of the things that made me start gaming a lot more. Nowadays I definitely see all its flaws and how bad the storyline was, but it is still pretty fun to replay. Game is not good, but I partially owe it credit for getting me into games a lot, so I can't really knock it to hard.
