the problem that i see come up with a lot of these film emulation fixations is that they tend to overtime forget what actual 16 mm looks like. its put on a pedestal as this ultimate absolute magic that takes you away with every shot, and that was obviously never the case with the real deal. theres plenty of things shot on 16mm that look bland or boring or even if you really study it, kind of crappy. these guys tend to fall in love with the idea of emulating 16 mm and not what 16 mm is itself, and it becomes more about referencing an emulation effect, rather than referencing 16 mm films. so there becomes this gimmick aspect to the whole thing, which makes it have a boutique angle rather than meat and potatoes which the real thing usually was, as it was used on lower budget films and documentaries generally. everyone wants this "i have the answer to the magical 16 mm perfection" perspective that is just not realistic and never ending

There is no logic in having the grain up front in the node tree. I hear people saying that film has it inherited in the film process - but with digital capture you are not emulating the process, you're emulating the visual of it. Having grain up front ( or any texture ) then restricts any smoothing or blurring that you might want to do within the grade - in this tutorial, the glow that you added is ruining the grain - all nodes after will interrupt the texture of the grain. So it is obvious that it should come after all smoothing or noise reduction to not alter the grain. Or you can add the grain and halation and then use printer lights and call it a day.
