It's pathetic to see pseudo-engineers talking about computer engineering.
I'm a computer engineer myself, and I worked for Apple for 6 years.
IT IS NOT TRUE that shutting down your Mac will put "SOME STRAIN" on your computer that putting it to sleep will not.

First of all, he lacks basic physics knowledge on how computers work and tried to use the meaningless word STRAIN because he can't explain it (it's not a mechanical machine, lol).
So he uses "STRAIN" to appear "smart" to his viewers but exposes his vast ignorance on the subject.
All the tasks listed as supposedly causing the "strain" are done as pre-checks before constant use afterward. If you're smart, you will understand right there how his claim is total nonsense. Because the very strain is something the computer is undergoing all the time. These are just pre-checks. It doesn't mean if it's not checking them, these "components" will be used. Quite the contrary, they are constantly used while it's on. And during sleep, a few of those will also be used because some tasks are kept alive. That's precisely the very same strain he was trying to convince people to avoid, which is stupid in the first place. It makes no sense. Sleep mode, using his own theory, will put MORE "STRAIN" on your computer than when it's shut down and turned on at the start of the day.
FINAL: Ignore these "Internet Experts" who use "keywords" to make claims without actually explaining the real engineering behind it. It's stupid to even think that these people know anything they're saying.

Note: The only reason we recommend users put their computers to sleep is just so our apps can keep track of and update data for users, to improve profits, conversions, and the overall experience. It has nothing to do with hardware or software integrity, "strain" (lmfao), or anything that could damage the computer. It's PHYSICALLY obvious that shutting down will wear the batteries LESS than sleeping in the long run. It's insignificant for most, but it will. It is PHYSICS; you can't WORK AROUND basic physics. It's high-school basic knowledge. You guys should know better.

These pseudo-engineers look like those fools who believe that someday we will create "anti-gravity" with high-tech, lol PHYSICS... lol.

I only use Windows laptop and I never shutdown unless necessary. After work I'd just put it to sleep mode (without closing the lid) which is my usual routine for months until a reboot is necessary after major OS and Driver updates. It's sad to see that an expensive M2 Mac still has a limit of 1 extended monitor. My Windows laptop with AMD 7735HS, 64GB DDR5, 2TB NVME SSD only costed me less than 1000USD and I can connect up to 3 external displays in extended mode without any issues, in fact this is my current setup right now.

Easy fix: don't be a caveman when manipulating your macbook.
Also, about the "turn off" question: i don't think apple makes it to be frequently turned off. Steve Jobs wanted all of apple products to never be shutdown. He wanted everything to be "dormant" while not being used. Just like we use the iphone and macbook today. (you can verify this in his biography by Walter Isaacson).

Wow this Bull Beep. Why do you keep doing this to yourself man. Either promote Apple or don’t but literally from all your videos you say you have a MacBook but then say the million things that make it bad or how it’s not perfect. If you don’t want a MacBook you don’t have to buy one. Just stop complaining please.

Hi heavy Macuser here since 2015 when i switched from windows. Since then I had four different mac models personal and provided by my workplaces. I almost never shut down my Macs except for upgrades and password reset issues or say if i plan to not use them for weeks or for a long time. I can say on the most extreme scenario am still going strong with one of my backups a Macbook 12 from 2015, which had a keyboard replacement in 2019 (done free by Apple since this was a known issue on these Macs) and a blackout screen in 2021 (replaced by Apple) but the screen was never cracked it just worn off showing the typical blank screen. I have never replaced any batteries or logic components this Mac still works swiftly and plan to keep it until 2025 completing a full 10 yr cycle as it was bought maxed out in RAM and storage which is still superior from basic config Apple is selling in their new models at their stores in 2023. For my other Macs inefficiencies or cracked screens were never there I replaced batteries in two of them when approaching 900 - 1,000 cycles while still bearing some minimal charge but that is all, so I guess in statistical metrics anything can always happen but cracked screens or other non-typical problems should not be a real concern if you do not turn off your Mac regularly. Hope this helps.

This video is just retarded. "The laptop picks up speed for multasking." What in the world? I think videos like these must be taken with a grain of salt. Furthermore, you propose having components turned ON all the time instead of switching them OFF when not in use. So keep them ON saves the components instead having them in use? This makes no sense.

Don't listen to this video as it's absolutely hogwash. Anyone worth any salt in IT knows that you ALWAYS FULLY SHUT DOWN your laptop when travelling. This is so obvious even a retard can understand why.

It is also FALSE that shutting down your Macbook does more harm than good. That is absolute HOGWASH!

I put my laptop on a smart power bar so that when it goes to sleep, the "phantom power" turns off. Which also saves you energy since it's always drawing power if its plugged in. Cheers.

So the take away for me is don't worry about anything just said because all the "negative" things as so incremental and cumulative only after years and years. By then I will be craving a newer MacBook anyway. Thus, the heading of this video is clickbate at best.

My MacBook which I still use had a period of time(4years) where I didn’t turn it off I only closed it and I’ve never had a problem as for the camera I covered it in water soluble arcrylic paint so I can just wipe it away when I need to use it.
