I've had helis not lock until 1.3 km, ridiculous.

The Type 93's missiles shouldnt even be fully IR tracking either. It gets a full picture of the shape of the heat signature instead of following the hottest point and uses that to track its targets. That said, it should be able to lock at 6km just as easily as it does at 1km but gaijiggles never fail to butcher a japanese vehicle. Take the Type 10 as an example.

To be fair the Ty-90s aren't MANPAD missiles, they're specifically designed to fight air targets and have a higher G overload/manuveurability than the standard MANPAD missiles.

If you hunt for helis, as far as i'm aware of, the beginner helis are easy targets for SAMs, later variants of Mi-24s, 35sand Mi-28s can only be hit from the front, otherwise the missile gets jammed.
You have zero chance against KA-50s.
Non-russian helis either flare off a lot (if they are aware enough), or won't provide a big enough heat source to lock on.
Your mobility can protect you from hellfires tho...

While I hate the stingers in war thunder, I am beyond glad to see another VAB variant for France and cannot wait for the IFV variant with a 20mm! I don’t really know why but I love the VABs😂

Missiles like this need to be buffed pretty badly. LAV-AD should also be moved down to 9.7. Its bizarre that Stingers especially in their current state warrant 10.0

All in game MANPADS are bad. TY-90 is good because it's never a MANPADS from the beginning, it was specifically designed to be a helicopter-based AA missile.

I have never been able to get a radar or IR lock on a recon drone in any AA, ever, no matter what range. If the SANTAL can do that, it's a huge positive.

The 92k stingers are still very reliable compared to other manpads. The all-aspect 6.5km range is super consistent

I've been having a very unfun time with the missiles just not firing or locking onto targets at all. Like you did in the video, you have a lock and you fire and it takes a missile away, but there is no missile.

No worries. Ground based heatseekers will get a buff now that Russians are getting one.

The SATCP in the name of the missile stands for "sol air très courte portée " wich can translate to surface to air short range.
Surface to air in french defense are categorised in three classes : short range wich is served by the army, medium and long range wich is served by the air force, altough medium range have now mostly disapeared.

IT IS BALANCE because french SPAAs engineers forgot they need to aim up and they forgot to add this feature

If you're doing French AA, you should try out the AMX-30DCA. In my opinion, it's the best all-round 8.0/8.3 AA... Those falcon guns are bonkers with a radar, and that AMX-30 chassis is so much better than the falcon's.

yea, Stingers/Mistrals are really not that good.

But I can safely say that since they uncaged the stingers on the Ozelot it's pretty nice, but they still don't track well if someone maneuvers even slightly

But I get a lot more kills now that they uncaged the seekers

I have feeling that Mistrals on Sidam and Mangusta works better
