Why Puddle Reflections are a Game-Changer for Night Photography

Join me on a night-time photography adventure around Lincoln as I capture stunning reflections in puddles and on wet roads and pavements. In this video, I'll be using my Olympus EM1 Mark II, paired with the 17mm f/1.8 and 45mm f/1.8 lenses, to take these atmospheric shots. Both lenses are part of the versatile Micro Four Thirds system, which provides excellent low-light performance and flexibility.

Puddle reflections are a fantastic way to create unique and intriguing images. The key to getting the best shots is to get your camera as low as possible to the surface of the puddle. You’ll see me crouching down, practically touching the ground, to capture those perfect reflections. I recommend not using a tripod for this type of photography, as getting the camera right down to the ground can be tricky with one. Plus, the flexibility of hand-holding your camera allows for more creative compositions.

Watch as I explore the streets of Lincoln, finding spots where the road and pavement are wet and reflecting the colorful lights of the city. These reflections add an amazing dynamic to the photos, making them pop with vibrancy and depth.
