GoPro Hero 8: Two Ways to Turn ON/OFF Also How to Switch Modes

I have no idea why they made the power button the mode button, too. Here I was thinking I was recording and a once in a lifetime shot happened. I went back to watch the video and it had switched to time-lapse mode. I immediately smashed it to bits. I don't need a camera that's going to just go switching modes on me. No more GoPros for me.

When using the shutter button to start the video it shuts down after a few minutes by itself. Why is this happening

What if the front camera light turns on steadily when i put in the battery, but cam wont turn on? Thanks.

thank you, i just bought a gopro second hand, and when i tap the top power button it doesn't turn on at all. it does start up if i tap the side power button. Also the red light turned on and stayed on after powering off the gorpro. Is it possible i got a defective gopro? thx

I just got this same camera a few days ago, purchased directly from GoPro's website. I can't get anything to work right. I have to pull the battery out and reinsert it 5-10 times just to get it to turn on, otherwise it won't do anything regardless of how many times I press the power button or how long I hold it. I spend on average 5 minutes just trying to get it to work. It also freezes up often, or it will turn on the front display but not the back. I thought I had it narrowed down to the media mod, but after I ran it for a while and drained two batteries, I couldn't get the camera to respond or take a charge for about 10 minutes. It won't do anything at all if I pull the battery out and try powering it on with only a USB cable. Do you think I got a defective camera, or is there some kind of fix for this?

Holy smokes they put their red button on top to make it seem like it's a on off but actually that's only if you want to start video immediately but I like using the Mode button to turn it on and then using the red shutter button to start my video and end my video. Yes I was struggling to holding down the red power button for 3 seconds and my video kept turning on and off it was a pain in the butt thank you for explaining it so simply

How to fix shutter button. Its not working if the go pro is off. Its automatically power on and record. But if the go pro is ON the shutter button is working.

@WorldofTech is there a way to turn off and on the wifi? or is it wifi instant? How do i use the slowmo? and does slowmo work in all res? Also wondering about the timelapse or warp or whatever its called, and i just bought one and i dont even know how to use it :P

Hi I have an issue with my hero 9 . After powering off it is turning on itself a couple hours later . Sometimes i find it turned on so battery is almost empty. Go pro support advised to update manually an factory reset . I did it. But again promblem occurred.if I turn off Bluetooth from my phone it doesn't occur. But I am not sure everyone who keeps their bluetooth turned on live this situation. Do you know anything about that issue and how to solve it ?

Why doesn't mine turn on? I have 4 batteries that all charge on the charging stand, but when I plug in the battery through the camera, it doesnt charge. And it won't turn on, it sometimes turns on but all it does is record, and i cant turn it off unless I remove the battery

The side power button is a big pain in the ass. Many times while on bike , trying to turn it off switches also the mode so .....the whole recording materials is messed up (video, time lapse ecc).... BAD option in go pro this option.... Really BAD.

On mine, when I do the long hold to turn it off, I'm seeing it power down and then back up. Fully charged battery. Weird.
