The Portuguese have a legend about how Canada got its name. So, when the Portuguese first landed on what they'd call Terra Nova, they found rock and ice and short, ugly trees and swarms of mosquitos and nothing else and so put up a sign that said: "Cá Nada" which means "Here Nothing". Interestingly enough, the word "canada" in Portuguese also means dirt road or laneway or a beating with a cane or a measurement for wine. So the following is a sentence that actually makes sense: Tu mereces uma canada depois de beber a canada toda na Canada do Canadá. And if you drop the N from Ontario, you get Otario, which means idiot, fool, moron and dipshit in Portuguese. Which makes sense, of course, since both Ford brothers were voted into power by the otarios of Ontario. Cheers!

As a Ontarian, I think Newfoundland and Labrador should change their name to Vinland. Vinland was the original name for newfoundland, it's been a name for the area via Denmark since the mid medieval period. which is still use today as a alternative name for the province

Even though it's correct that 'Brunswick' comes from Germany and "Braunschweig" it is actually not "anglicized as the old original name of Braunschweig is indeed >Brunswiek<.
Braunschweig is the High German version while Brunswiek is the Low German one. Low German/ old Saxon was the original language of that Area. "Wick" or "Wyk" is an old germanic word for a trading place. If you look up the map of north-western germany you'll find some more cities with the word wiek/ wick or wyk in it - like Bardowick or Wyk Föhr.

Saskatchewan being named after a swift flowing river?…it’s far more believable that it would have origins after the mighty Sasquatch bipeds of the northwest region, plus the names are so similar…

So what did people of The Northwest Territories call them before that name? It's so obviously tacked on by people coming in, who didn't know or care much. "Oh that cold, weird place up there to the Northwest? Guess we're going there. What shell we call that big bunch of land?"
