I'll have to assume since you mention an anglers knot you are referring to fishing, It's not clear since your video seems to start in the middle of a conversation.
Pretty weak arguments supporting your contentions against the bowline in general. In 40 years of fishing I've never met anyone who uses a bowline to connect to a leader. A bowline is meant to be easy to untie. After tying the bowline use the running end, and tie an overhand safety around the rope it lies next to secures it there is any doubt it about it coming undone. Coil? a round turn is the correct term for a rope running 360 degrees around an object.
For the use you describe, a double figure of eight is faster to tie, stronger and doesn't have a tail extending at a right angle waiting to snag your tippet.

Is this one of those "Considered Harmful" whitepapers? Let's watch the click-bait... 🏃‍♂

It's too complicated, a simple figure eight loop is easy to tie and has superior breaking strength, can also be tied around objects with the follow through method. Breaking strength is determined by how fast the rope turns where the load hits. The figure nine is even better.

Yeah, I remember hearing some famous climber lost their life in a fall when their bowline knot slipped. There are alternatives, this is one of them and a highly effective knot. Thanks!

Perhaps you meant to say the bowline is not recommended for fly fishing/fishing? Because otherwise I don't agree with you. The bowline is an excellent knot that's easy to tie, holds very well and, importantly, is easy to untie no matter how much tension it was asked to hold.

As for fishing, better than loop to loop connecting your leader to your line, cut off the loops and use a nail knot or blood knot to connect the lines if you are looking for the best connection that transfers the casting energy down the line.

So here's where we do the pull test using the same rope . We'll try lift 500lb blocks with the crane using each knot.
Upon releasing the load on each knot will be the winner.
As an angler myself, Who TF uses a bowline to tie fishing knots?!?!?!?!?!!?
The memory itself will release that knot.

Title way overstates the case and borders on clickbait. The bowline has weaknesses but it is a fine knot and has been considered so for centuries if not millenia. I doubt that it's deficiencies make any difference to the average weekend warrior lashing down his Home Depot lumber.

When I learned the Bowline about 60 years ago, I was taught that it was the go to knot for retrieving injured people when no other harnesses were available. It could be used to create a chair prior to hoisting the person without having the knot slip and crushing either the chest nor the legs during the lift. This worked with people conscious or unconcious. I have not seen any other knot that does that job better. MOST knots have a specific niche that they perform better than most OTHER knots. You need to say WHAT a knot is or is NOT recommended for, not just a blanket statement like your title suggests.

while watching the video, I tied and untied the English loop 1 time and the bowline 6 times... Hmmm...
it took most of the time to untie the English loop

You can tie it with the tail outside too (call it the cowboy style) .. Sheet bend in it is pretty resistant too

Interesting alternative that looks really clever and usefull as a knot for fishing line leaders. I'll stick with using the bowline for sailing and securing loads.

you can make the bowline with the tail end on the outside very simply. but yes it is only stable while under tension.

Trusted so many decades the bowline doesn't need this ignorant opinion

I've used the standard bowline & pass it through the other side so the tail end faces outward.
